I just called the Stalkville police and ask if the Bin bar was a safe shelter during a tornado they said NO.

The weather services talked about bad storms and Tornado chance for Saturday night since Tuesday. So what do these idiot college kids do go to a bar thinking it will provide a safe haven. I would never put my safety in the hands of a bar owner in a college town during a tornado warning.

That's like if a cat 4 hurricane is coming a shore here in gulf shores I sure don't run to a local bar thinking it will provide safety for me. Just like this stalkville tornado people would know for days a hurricane was coming and people like myself would head north to get away. Not run to a bar for a party.

If those stupid college kids wanna make and use that bar as a shelter during a tornado they need to buy it and stay there during all storms.

I also ask the Starkville police would they suggest going to this bar during a tornado warning they also said no. They said that the EMA states go home and while at home go to the inter most room or a basement or to a storm shelter. How going home and get in your basement or a shelter could get crossed up with go to the Bin bar.

I did not know that Bin bar owners job was to provide safety for college kids during a possible tornado.

Fact is these clueless college kids screwed up not listening to the weather people and looked like fools.

Maybe there is a high demand in Stalkville for a college bar / tornado shelter. Per those on this forum they need one.

Ask yourself would you head to the beach knowing a cat 4 hurricane was coming a shore? If so you have the same thinking as the stupid college kids.

Even if the bar wasn’t safe, it was much more safe than being outside in tornado weather. It would have been extremely easy to let those people in the basement and provide the most shelter they could

There's a difference between going there seeking shelter and already being in there when shelter is needed. Pretty sure SPD also wouldn't recommend leaving a building and running around downtown looking for another building when there's already tornadoes on the ground in the area

They had 5 days warning 120 hours notice. They let their drive to get drunk override the common sense and correct thing to play it safe. I'm sure they had no concern for their family back home if so they play it safe. But in your line of thinking instead of playing it safe and staying at home or going to a shelter with 5 days notice they choose to go to a bar then blamed the bar.

How many bars in the entire country are "safe shelter" for tornadoes or hurricanes?

It's about egregious behavior by the bar and liabilities involved.

If one of the kids that was sent out was hurt by falling debris or hurt by the bouncers forcing them out the bar would absolutely be liable for their actions.

It's would BTW not "wood".

If they knew bad storms were coming, and knew they wouldn't shelter patrons, why stay open?

You must not live in starkville or know the situation or you are an ignorant arse old man, because a) all the talk of the sky falling was in central LA and west MS so I can see why some college students who assume they have their whole lives in front of them would go to a bar without worry b) regardless of what the weather folks said, you're obviously far removed from being young so as to think that a college student would give a damn about ANYTHING more than they care about fighting, f*cking and drinking, and if you can't see that viewpoint then you are a damned fool, a troll (likely) or old as dirt or c) you don't live in the area because you don't realize just how serious that chit got and how fast. If you do live in the area and that fact is lost upon you, then you're just as ill-informed as the students, and even more so.

We had one miss us south of there and were about to turn in to hunt turkeys the next morning and then BOOM, debris sig and nasty tornado on the ground doing damage. One of the turkey camp guys with us is a volunteer fire and his radio started popping off and an hour later we were all out there with saws helping folks with cleanup. Hell we were watching the weather and thought the coast was clear for a little shut eye, and so shut eye for me could mean shots at the bar for a college student- whether they're watching the weather or not.

That one could've been way worse due to its irregular movements and dying and building up of strength.

All in all, you're a dipchit.

Did they put guns to those kids heads and force them to come they made a choice. Here is the choice I know bad weather and a chance of tornado is coming do I stay at home or go to a bar.

They made the wrong choice.

Which is safer:

- The bar
or
- The street

Regardless of what happened before, they forced people into a more dangerous situation.

Only must have been your close crew of people that were clueless al.com started talking about about it Tuesday. I lived 300 miles from Starkville and knew about. But your bunch did not. You may need to get out of the cave you live in.
