LSU fans believe the conference is corrupt to its core, continually fixes games against them and sends them messages.

LINK /

I asked this fanbase a few days ago why they continue to watch and I couldn't get a straight answer, so I'll try again.

Why do you participate in a sport that you believe is governed by men and women who are corrupt to their very core? Why do you do this?

It's common knowledge to everyone who follows SEC football that the LSU fanbase holds this pervasive, entrenched belief that the executive level of our conference is conspiring against you.

But as I write this, I realize I may be asking the wrong question. Yours is a victim culture. You're incomplete if your not being victimized. You'll watch no matter what.

How about this. What's the genesis of this SEC paranoia, this victimhood? How did it begin? Surely there's a few LSU historians who can shed some light on this.

I would really like to know how this all began. Seriously.

Idiots are out early today. “Here’s this entire scenario I made up in my head. Care to respond?”

If a quarter of what you claim is true your life in Louisiana sounds absolutely miserable

Although raylan givens “a-hole” quote also comes to mind

I live in Louisiana. I've learned to love the LSU fanbase.

FIFY

There’s legitimate gripes about the targeting rule when your star qb is knocked out of the game and “roughing the passer- blow to the head” is called, but not reviewed for targeting.

Then a routine tackle is reviewed and neither announcer believes it’s targeting and it is. The rule and it’s applicable is fricked and needs to be fixed.

UGA can’t find solace in a top ten win and needs to cling to underdog scenarios despite their winning streak. It’s really sad to see.

There isn’t a world where I would ever read another team’s main message board. That’s bad enough. But then you run here and post some kind of weird attempt at a gotcha post on the entire fanbase over a thread with a few idiots?

You’re a real winner at life, homie.

It's perfectly fine for them to be upset with last night's targeting call, but let's not forget that there were two instances of LSU defenders making helmet to helmet calls that much more "egregious" than that against Bama that weren't called. Point is, targeting is so subjective and inconsistent, it's ludicrous how and when it's determined.

That's an interesting starting point but I've talked to friends who say they've always felt the SEC has treated LSU unfairly. Maybe it goes back further.

I think this is what's know as the "win melt" they tried to claim all week.

I didn't make it up though. This is a pervasive belief in LSU sports culture. Practically everyone sees it.

Relevance means something in college football...of course, you wouldn't know that feeling.

How am I lying? I didn't think that they should've been called, I'm just saying that the fact that targeting was called on that hit last night compared to ones against Bama is why targeting calls are way too subjective and inconsistent.

It's not a "gotcha" post. There are countless threads and posts like that, ranging from ATVS all the way to the Tiger Rant. And it's not just limited to message boards. I've been hearing this sorta thing from friends, neighbors and co-workers for years.

When you all are confronted on it. I don't understand why you deny it. This is what you people believe.

Being upset is ok. LSU is no different than any other fanbase in that regard.

Where they're vastly different is this pervasive belief the conference is utterly corrupt and conspires against them. It permeates their entire fan culture.
