Coach Description:
>0 conference championships
>7 years before first conference winning record
>made executive decision to eliminate investment in the most fertile recruiting area in the country.
>8 of 15 years without winning conference record
>lost to Troy on national tv
>arrested for DUI. caught on camera
>DUI exposed marital affair
>starting QB doing coke all over campus
>teammates pulling guns on each other
>players threaten a boycott on his watch destroying the university financially for years

What are your program standards for building a statue?

Would you consider building a statue for the man described above?

Depends on who the person is and which program he coached

Some schools might like some of the shite you mentioned

I think a normal person, likely not an old marine guy who is likely pretty dumb, would interpret this as the school you support as a fan.

Gary Pinkel at Missouri. He is by far their most successful head coach in program history. No problem with it if they feel so inclined

It is. Check this guy’s post history - he’s been shitting on Pinkel since last night. It’s pretty strange

Pinkel was a slightly above average coach, and a less than average person.

Hell no he does not deserve a statue, lulz

That’s cool.

So this is the standard for mizzou to build a statue.

If this is the case, damn.

0 National championships.
0 meaningful anything.
Builds statue for coach with 0 meaningful accomplishments in 15 years.

But he is the best they had — don’t mind that it’s mostly due to years of service not accomplishments.

Also lets ignore that he destroyed the program and nearly destroyed the entire university.

Yep.

Maybe an average coach.

Fortunate to have 7 years of patience before first winning record in the b12.

Fortunate to have a cup cake set-up first 4-5 games every year in the b12.

Bad person. Hypocrite. Destroyed everything he worked for.

He has the most wins, but Dan Devine is considered the best football coach in our program's history by the majority of Mizzou fans.

There’s no doubt the honor is well-deserved. During his 15-year tenure in Columbia, Pinkel led the Tigers to more bowl games than the program had been to in the 28 years prior. He also led Missouri to five division championships, including three Big 12 North titles from 2007 to 2010 and back-to-back SEC East titles in 2013 and 2014. That’s not even beginning to mention his career at Toledo, where he remains the all-time winningest head coach. Just bonus stuff, no big deal.
