Mississippi State

Mississippi State is the deal-breaker? Please, they still haven't filled in half their stadium. They are minors in an all adult party.

Yet we've played them over 100 times. Who said they're a deal breaker by themselves? LSU, Ole Miss, the historical connection with aTm...you think we're giving those up so we can play USCe and Kentucky every year? Uhhh, no. Won't happen.

Alabama and Ole Miss can easily split. We played Ole Miss less than UGA, Vanderbilt, etc before 1992.

Alabama and State is definitely trickier. We have played every year for forever and we are the closest schools in the league.

I don't disagree with you. I just think that when you take into account the entire package of current West teams, it's highly unlikely that Bama will move.

I think State will be the only real argument. We go along with Auburn, Vandy and Tennessee, all of which are our #1/#2 rivals and a team we've played 3rd most in our history.

It sucks to lose the LSU game - we've played a lot, especially since the 60s, and it's become a great rivalry. But I think the league sees them as the lynchpin to include Texas, A&M, Arky, Oklahoma in the old SEC. So if it comes down to losing 1 of Auburn, State or Tennessee, I think we all know how that will end.

Also - the fact that "losing" a team is much different in this context because we will play them every other year softens it quite a bit, I think.

The SEC is going to have to move someone, somewhere. It's the easiest thing to do without putting 2 more very west teams in the east. At that point, most folks will realize that geography isn't our strong suit.

If BAMA stays in the east then auburn stays too. All the cross-division mess is predominately coming from BAMA, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia. SOLVED.

The East is the Least, now they again become the BEAST. SOLVED. Division balance has been saved.

What?? That’s not how the pods would work.. It’s t 4 pod winners.. your more grouped with 3 other teams.. the top 2 pod winners would play SECCG. You still would only play 12 reg season games…

There was very little history in this series before 1992. And not much added until Ole Miss hired Freeze. So why?

Say we go to a pod system..........

The two teams who play in the SECG will have played 14 games.

HOW are you getting 14 games?

12 game schedule
1 game SECCG
----------------------
13 games for 2 schools (which ALL conferences have due to their cg)

There's no other place to go once the newcomers take hold. BAMA and auburn will bring the east from least to BEAST the moment they arrive. The cross-division rivalries are over given that BAMA, Tennessee, the barn, and Georgia have what they always wanted. LSU is always bitching about having to play the Gators so they probably won't lose any sleep getting to play Texas and Oklahoma in their stead.

9 games is a must to clean up this mess every season.

9 games is pretty much a given. It's a toss-up if @ 14 teams you should have 9.

How are y'all NOT getting that there's NO WAY to keep all these historied games UNLESS the schedule keeps them (in other words PROTECTED RIVALRY GAMES).
Therefore, just because you may not be in a pod with them DOESN'T mean the game is cancelled until years in the future.
