Would UGA, Florida, and Tennessee agree to Auburn (and Alabama) moving East?

Auburn belongs in the East with our rivals. Realistically Auburn and Alabama are joined and will move together to wherever. Would the Big 3 in the East go for that?

I don't see why not. If UT and OU join the west then they wouldn't have much of a "fairness" argument.

I don't think divisions will work in 16 teams. That's why you see so many posts about pods.

This is what I think will happen if UT and OU join the conference. bama keeps UT and Auburn. Auburn keeps UGA/bama and picks UF back up. Win/win for both.

Nope…UGA will vote no unless they go to a pods schedule. Kirby isn’t a fool.

Georgia would be ok with it. I presume tennessee would as well for the same reasons (keep the annual rivalry games).

We play Auburn every year.

So really the question is "Would you agree to playing Alabama every year?"

In a way I'd be fine with it, because in that scenario we'd be playing them in the regular season instead of the SECCG.

We could feasibly still make the playoffs even if we lost to them in the regular season.

I would just want them scheduled the opening week every year.

9(or 10) SEC games with no permanent cross division games would solve that?

Of course Tennessee would go for it. After all, they think the sky will fall if they can't get run over by 'Bama every 3rd Saturday of October.

Have to strongly disagree with you here. UGA would have no problem with it. Why would we?

No no no go pods.

“Pods” is an unworkable arrangement. How can you possible have a pod champion when the pod-teams all play three pod games, and then six completely different non-pod games?

You could have a team lose all their pod games and win the pod by winning all outside games. You could have teams playing two even three times, reg season, playoffs, etc.

And you add a second level of SEC playoff to go with 3-4 NC playoff rounds. Five playoff games? It is not workable.,

An eight team division is easy… seven division games, two cross-over SEC games, no permanent cross-over games (unnecessary because all traditional rivals will be intact within the divisions).

Whoever thinks “pods” is an alternative hasn’t tried to spread-sheet a schedule.,it is a nightmare.

9 games
Y1
Games 1-7: division opponent
Games 8-9: c/d opponents 1 & 2
Y2
Games 1-7: division opponent
Games 8-9: c/d opponents 3 & 4
Y3
Games 1-7: division opponent
Games 8-9: c/d opponents 5 & 6
Y4
Games 1-7: division opponent
Games 8-9: c/d opponents 7 & 8

It'll take 8 years to go through the other side ONCE.

10 games

Georgia/Florida/Kentucky/SC shoot this down because our 11th game will be in-state ACC opponent leaving 1 slot free to schedule whomever, while the rest have 2

Is this “new” math? WTF? If nine game SEC schedule…

Sure looks like every team would play against all other teams every FOUR years… your chart shows that. Of course that means no permanent cross division opponents.

Basic math…8 teams in other division, play two of them every year 8/2 = 4 years to play them all. I cannot understand your math.

Well just go with 3 permanents. Then play 6 teams of the other 12 in year 1 and 2 and then the other 6 in year 3 and 4.

9 game schedule, top 2 teams go to Atlanta. If 3 teams are tied, then use a tie breaker head to head would be first then winning % of teams you defeated.

The 7 Division 2 crossover means you play all 8 teams in 4 years assuming you don't play 2 teams in back to back years and then you see them again in year 5.

Not terrible but at least with the way I set it up, every SEC team plays every SEC team twice in 4 years, every SEC team plays at every other SEC venue and if you are in to going to road games, your fans can visit every SEC campus in 4 years.

Alabama isn't going anywhere.

You kids forget...what two schools are the closest to each other geographically? The two that have played 101 games against each other. So no, those two won't be split.

Second, there has been no bigger rivalry in terms of TV audiences the last 15 years than Bama-LSU. So no, those two won't be split either.

Alabama and Ole Miss won't be split either.

So Alabama is staying put. And you're joined at the hip with us, so get the frick over it. You're not going anywhere.
