How far should a team drop if they lose to a 6-6 team in their second to last game? In fact make that loss three touchdowns as they spread their checks

You gonna punish them for playing in a conference championship while Alabama was sitting at home counting their dick today?

It isn’t possible to “punish” an ACC team for how they perform in their championship, because they must play in that game to be eligible for the playoff.

If you're going to drop a team that had 100% of 1st place AP poll votes for losing to the most dominant program by 3 points form #1 to #6, then absolutely you'd get booted for losing to Clemson at bare minimum 3 to 4 spots.
Did the team that replaced Georgia also sit their 3 loss arse at home on conference championship game weekend two weeks removed from scoring 3 points in a 21 point loss to a 6-6 team?

The game was played during the regular season?
How many spots should a team drop after losing to a 6-6 team by 3 touchdowns for their third loss of the season?

I see a lot of people are deflecting to the “loss to a 6-6 team” narrative. That wasn’t the question. I won’t be mad if Bama isn’t in, they should have handled business and didn’t. This thread is about future seasons though. I’m sure you’ve all seen the graphic showing the ranking of 3 loss teams in the past. Several were “on the bubble”. What happens when LSU or UGA is 9-3 but sits at home after playing an SEC schedule while #11 Boston College and # 9 FSU play in the ACC champ game. Neither ACC team has a Top 25 win and both have two loses. You’re telling me you’d be ok with FSU or Boston College being rewarded for playing a shite schedule in a shite conference while your team sits at home after finishing 3rd or 4th in the SEC? You beat multiple Top 25 teams but because a team played in conference champ game they’re rewarded? Not won the champ, just played in the game. Nah..

It didn't drop TCU out of the natty game against us when they lost to KSU.

3 losses should eliminate you from the CFP as an at large. Unless there are not enough reasonable 2-loss teams to fill the spots.

Plain and simple, losing 25% of your games in CFB should guarantee no shot at the playoffs.

Don’t want this issue? Stop making super conferences to make more money.

No, I wouldn't be O.K. with that. But guess what? That's the system in which we're playing.

Texas has zero wins over top 25 teams.
Indiana has zero wins over top 25 teams.
Boise St has zero wins over top 25 teams.
Clemson had zero regular season wins over top 25 teams.
SMU has zero wins over top 25 teams.
Penn St. 1-2 vs top 25 teams

It's a flawed system.

All we have to go on is what these teams actually did on the field.
It's funny. Those people bitching about a playoff system, so that things could be decided ON THE FIELD, now want to throw out what's happened on the field and go by what they think might happen.

This is what happens when you try to fix things that aren't broken.

Considering Alabama only dropped 6 spots for losing to an unranked 6 loss team, it is not farfetched at all to think a team would only drop 3 spots losing to a top 20 ranked team with only 2 losses.

Yea I know "but it's Bama...."
