Plausible scenario but unlikely. With the Big 12 now having a championship game there's going to be even more pressure to have one conference representative from 4 of the 5 major conferences. If one gets left out because the SEC has 2 representatives, there's going to be some pissed off conference athletic directors. But yea, it could happen if 2 of the conference champions finish with 2 or more losses.

Auburn losing to georgia, bama and bowl game, and 1 more for another 5 loss campaign, just can't figure out who the other loss comes from.

Best chance at 2 teams is Undefeated UGA defeats undefeated Bama in SECCG.
It would require not having an undefeated in the Big 10, which is likely (how often are their 3 undefeated). Oklahoma dropping 1 in the big 12 and Ohio state winning out would only help.
Bama is the only program with national pull/draw to jump another 1 loss conference champion imo, and unfortunately can't say they haven't earned it.

They have a playoff committee to make sure that 4 conferences are represented when the 4th-7th are close. For 2 teams from 1 conference to get in would require the implosion of 2 conferences.
I would guess that a 2 loss conference champ from the B1G, PAC or ACC would get in over a 1 loss nonconference champ from the SEC when the champion makes it.
Im not saying I agree with it, but by having a committee vs using polls means they want equal representation. The TV money demands it regardless if its right or wrong.
