Obviously this is just informational. Thought it was interesting.
Worst losses by SEC teams ranked #1 in AP Poll
2018 - Alabama: -28 (vs Clemson)
1985 - Florida: -21 (vs Georgia)
2011 - LSU: -21 (vs Alabama)
2009 - Florida: -19 (vs Alabama)
1985 - Auburn: -18 (vs Tennessee)
1951 - Tennessee: -15 (vs Maryland)
1942 - Georgia: -14 (vs Auburn)
2010 - Alabama: -14 (vs South Carolina)
2017 - Alabama: -12 (vs Auburn)
2008 - Alabama: -11 (vs Florida)
Most shocking on this list is Maryland defeating the 1951 National Champions by 15. Shocking to me that Maryland doesn't claim that national title. LMK of any errors.

That is very interesting
I can’t tell if Alabama just loses a lot or if they are just ranked #1 a lot. How would a mathematician decipher this information with such minimal data? The thread premise seems to consciously lack important details to support a thinly veiled, and frankly sad attempt at a troll. Add a little humor and you’re heading in the right direction. This is just lazy and you have a long way to go before September. Shake the rust off

It’s the latter, my man. They’ve played 101 games as the #1 team. By FAR the most of any team in the world. So of course they’ll appear on the list more than others. This isn’t some sideways shot at Bama.
Not sure why you’re taking this information the wrong way.

Think it is informative.
You probably would have liked the data before you met up with Trevor Lawrence.
Is beating Alabama that easy.
Just throw the football vertically

There are a lot of things effective against Bama. You can secretly drug their players before the game, kidnap Saban, call them stupid idiots, get them hooked on late night gaming, or my favorite, pay the refs.
Like I said, there are tons of ways to beat Alabama.

Mississippi State -10 to Alabama was very bad

I was gonna go to 15 occurrences. But someone showed up a few more times and I truly didn’t want to hit on any sensitivities.

Excellent add! I didn’t go beyond ‘92 and ‘12 for our expansion members only because I’m lazy.

Maryland does claim the 1953 national title, but not the 1951. Maryland was the consensus champion in '51 (named champion by the Dunkel, Football Research, National Championship Foundation, and Sagarin).
It's odd they don't (but Tennessee does), but I guess they choose not to.

Correct. But they’ve participated in 101 games as the #1 team

Wow! There's a lot of Saban on this page
Saban has played 77 times as the #1 team while at Alabama. His record playing those games is 69-8.
Losses were to
2018 Clemson
2017 Auburn
2016 Clemson
2014 Ohio State
2013 Auburn
2012 Texas A&M
2010 South Carolina
2008 Florida
Coach Bryant is the second and only other Alabama coach to play as the AP #1 team while at Alabama. He played in 24 games and his record is 19-5.
