Shula doesn't belong in this group

It was ugly but he won 10 games in 05 after taking over a disaster of a hire in Mike Price

Not even close to chad Morris

Jimbo Fisher is not even in the conversation. At TAM he went 45-25 overall, 27-21 in the SEC. He won an orange bowl and finished 4th one season. He finished ranked in the top 25 half of his seasons. He would be in the top 5 all time of Auburn coaches. He isn’t anywhere on the list of worst hires. Worst contract? Yes, that is possible. But that is on the AD Woodward, not on Jimbo

Technically Bjork did the extension, but this is spot on.

This board is so dumb sometimes. Getting past the buyout, Jimbo was let go because he didn’t meet higher expectations, but he is far from “the worst hire in history”. .642 win percentage, NY6 bowl win. There are hundreds of coaches in college football history history that have done worse than that over 6 years at a school.

It's Chad Morris by light years.

our egomaniacal BOT and booster base, and the frauds they allow to sky scream them into submission, has destroyed this program. It's Stockholm Syndrome Ned Beatty bending over with his fat legs spread taking it up the arse.

Then on Morris, when he's got to be sent packing, they get media members to blame it on the lady who was pinch hitting as Asst AD, the same lady who had Lane Kiffin ready to come (the first go-round)

Still say Kiffin at Tennessee. Good coach (a bit immature at the time), but bad culture fit.

Was there a greater melt than when he left?

Chad Morris at Arkansas is pretty hard to beat.

The worst in modern history and on the Mt. Flushmore for worst SEC hires of all time. The damage he inflicted on the fan base alone will take a decade to recover from.

Howard Schnellenberger at Oklahoma was pretty horrific for us. That drunk couldn't have left here fast enough.

Larry Coker at Miami. Won a NC with Butch Davis' players but when it came to running it, fell flat on his face.

Blake was a terrible coach, but he was a hell of a recruiter. Bob Stoops took a lot of those guys into that 2000 National championship season. Schnellenberger was way worse than Blake in terms of shitbag coaches. Howard wouldn't even give our players water. Our guys were hiding bottles in the bushes along the practice field just to get through fricking two a days

If it’s true that Harsin genuinely didn’t care about recruiting, then yes. How do you not make sure the coach cares about the most important aspect of SEC coaching before hiring him?

the fit was fine, how was he going to turn Southern Cal down?

the timing was bad, that's all

ETA: it was funny watching that girl reporter shove her tape recorder at him during the announcement, his response was gentlemanly and trolling her at the same time

There have been some shitty hires over the years and many have been mentioned here.

I will throw my nominee out:

Ellis Johnson

Southern Miss went from a top 10 team the year before he was hired to winless the next year.

Worst of all time.

I'm proud I screamed bloody murder from day one on him

all his defenders scurried like roaches near the end of year two, the final year

John Blake was the worst thing you all ever did .

I'd guess some of your Switzer people poisoned the water on Schnellenberger

Sylvester Croom.

How did this not make the first page?

Dude lost to Maine. Maine. MAINE!! Then blasted the fans for not seeing improvement. Architect of the 3-2 debacle. Would not fire an OC that couldn’t tell you which part of the football to point downfield. Allowed Mike Henig to see the field…. As starting QB. Gave the “Winston Churchill” hype speech pregame to the first game in 07 and then Nevelle Chamberlained the game to the tune of 6 picks and a 45-0 rout.

Dan Mullen took his last team that lost 45 points to Ole Miss and finished with 4 wins, and then Mullen was two plays away from 7 wins the next year. And one year later beat Michigan in the Gator 52-14 with a QB who couldn’t pass.

Sylvester Croom was the WORST hire in modern history and it’s not comparable.
