I'm not so sure, the youth, inexperience, and lack of consistent pitching behind Landry still makes me think OU is vulnerable. I will say, this is the year to get them.
This OU team isn't near as good as the last four.
Here are the main reasons
1) The pitching is not even close to as deep. One ace, and three others that are inconsistent as opposed to previous years with two to three pitchers who were good enough to be aces on any staff.
2) Poor hitters at 6, 8 holes on offense... While the hit an occasional home run and get walked sometimes... they mostly strike out and hit skyouts when at the plate.
3) Defense is slightly diminished... Not as good of arm strength in the infield. And the outfield isn't as good because they can't play their best defensive center fielder without benching a better hitter. There is no way last year's left fielder (Riley Boone) drops the fly ball that gave Tennessee a run in the game yesterday.
4) OU is light years worse at catcher. Bella Emerling can't hit... and defensively she is nowhere close to Kinzie Hansen.
5) A lot of new players this year who haven't had the WCWS spotlight on them.
If you are going to get OU... this is the year. They are good enough to win this... but so are several other teams.

Agree, but think OU has cone down to other teams level. But still have that edge and moxy. It comes down to little things and normally OU does them well. Patty is so good reading her players. Sam was not pitching great early but Patty stuck with her and was rewarded. Defense made 4 key double plays. Putting Coor in for half an inning and she makes a double play from the outfield. Patty had a knack for things.

Funny how the best players are the most readable huh

I din’t think we have the beat players if you factor in experience. Most of this team is young and I think this one of ger best coaching jobs. Other teams have way more vets who could be considered better.

Yeah I don't disagree. OU's looked more vulnerable than they have in a long time, and yet they're 2 wins from another finals appearance.
I don't have much faith in Texas vs. OU tomorrow. It's mental for our coach, he sees Gasso and shits his pants.

I'm hot for Karlyn Pickens but though two batters she's looking like she doesn't have it today.
Hope she remembers the importance of (checks notes) throwing strikes.

I guess Tim Walton wants to go on vacation? Why would you start Hammock? Walton and Sully are just mailing it in at this point

I see Tennessee's offensive strategy is to just wear out the left fielder.

Lady Vols came out pissed. I’m surprised. I thought they would roll over.

Tennessee already taking Pickens out. Watch this game not be over yet.

The day Oklahoma stole Jenn Rocha from Tim Walton completely changed the trajectory of our softball program.

Embarrassing day all the way around for the Gators.

quote:Yes, by rule she was blocking the plate. I think the rule should be changed because having her foot blocking the plate had no bearing on the play itself. The catcher tagged her out prior to the runner becoming blocked.
I'm not a rules expert but her foot was blocking home plate.
I think the rule should be, and will be, modified. At least I hope so.

The one justification I can think of is if you’re blocking the plate the runner might slow, which can create an easier out. But it didn’t look like that happened here either.

Florida girl just got a nationally televised medical school reference from Holly Rowe. Hope she adds that to her resume.

In the youth sanctions, that’s all we as umpires have to look for. Were the runners actions hindered or impeded? Slowing or adjusting their path due to a defender without possession of the ball.
But college coaches thought they knew better and lobbied hard for the changes that are present now.
