From NFL insider Micheal Silver

THREAD 1) The Urban Meyer situation in Jacksonville has reached a crisis point, especially in the locker room. One player told me, 'He has zero credibility in that stadium. He had very little to begin with.'

What college coach does in the NFL besides Pete Carroll?

Pete Carroll is an NFL coach who had a brief stop in college

College coaches have a hard time treating NFL players like adults. You can’t yell and scream at them like they are 18-19 or else they will just tune you out and play when they want to. The players have way more power than the coaches do unless it’s Carrol, Belichick or Harbaugh

Quite a few college coaches successfully transition to the NFL.

Urbs, however, has a couple of really big challenges others don't face.

First is expectations. His success at the college level puts pressure on him to perform immediately.

Second, and most importantly, as others have said managing an NFL team full of grown men (many of whom make more money than the coach) requires a different skill set that Meyer's never so much as seen. Other college coaches that end up in the NFL spent time there as either a player or some level of assistant. Urb's first day in the NFL in any capacity was as the Jags head coach. That's a hell of a position to be in when you're learning the ropes.
