Is this a new thing, or has this been the case?

Always been the case, Chizik is a very good DB coach. I think part of AU's problem was a few too many roosters in the hen house, meaning probably too many coaches working with the players. I expect you'll see this resolved with WM being brought on board.

First time I've checked the thread, and I don't know how much he has or hasn't posted. Just saying what I always say to him.

So who are you anyways?

I find a hard time believing this, FWIW...

If he did, it certainly didn't transfer to the field with pads.

Can we get a ruling once and for all over AU's D?

- Was Gene Chizik running the D that has been on the field for AU the last 2 years?

- Was Ted Roof responsible for the DB play or is that on Gene Chizik?

- Will BVG being able to call the D as he sees fit?

- Is Martinez in charge of the DB's or is that someone not named the DB coach responsibility?

Ask Stephen at on ITAT, he still has the picture if memory serves. Brandon was a very talented kid but when you have Myasthenia gravis it hurts your ability. LINK

His secondary allowed 241.5 passing yards per game last year as OU's DB coach FWIW.

That does seem high, but I wonder where it ranked in the Big 12? The did play RGIII, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden, Texas Tech ect.. Not an easy task for any db coach.

Roof was running the defense but he was running the style Chizik wanted, similar to what Smart does with Saban. Roof's problem was this was a 3 year rebuild job on the defense, had the defense improved last year he'd have a job, instead it improved then took a step back.

The DB play last year was inexperience and no pressure from the DL, we had no inside pressure and our DEs were dinged up late in the season and we lost Ford as well.

DVG will most def be calling the defense, he's bringing to the table the nastiness CHizik wanted. Roof was a good coach and a good person but he wouldn't get on player's cases if they made a mistake, hes the kind of guy that would pat them on the back tell them they'll work on it. Chizik wanted someone to get onto them for making mistakes.

I suspect Lolley will have the primary job of coaching like he did under Tubs but that remains to be seen, his health was rough on him this year.

79th nationally.

truth. I remember his first game against GT, he seemed to have a very live arm and wasn't afraid to just fire the ball in there. It really was amazing to see how much arm strength he lost from that year to his Sr. year.
