LSU has had empty seats thanks to mandates. Wouldn’t have been full anyway with the juggernauts they’ve played so far at home.

You do understand what happens if someone buys a season ticket and doesn’t show, right? Go to youtube, rewatch the crowd shots. It was near full, but spotty. I’m certain it was sold out. I don’t care about how many tickets sold. I’m just saying it wasn’t packed. People don’t evaporate and leave empty seats at the top of a stadium.

Maybe you were watching another game or LSU game. Alabama vs Florida game was packed out...maybe you can provide us YouTube link backing up what you're saying?

Oh yea for big games . Hard to justify spending hundreds of dollars to go blow a whole day/ weekend to watch your team play a New Mexico St. type game anymore for me

ever again?

Football attendance has been a serious problem before COVID. And frankly, regardless of what the southeast schools and fans believe, we are still in the middle of COVID and people are still making decisions about their health and safety in this country.

I have always gone to numerous games and usually travel to one marquee game a year. Not this year. I wish everyone safe travels and hope this stuff doesn't get any worse, but life is a calculated risk and some folks are up for more of a challenge than others. Like BAMA's defense, these days, I'm a lot more conservative.

Even ones in states with stricter COVID rules.

Then what does that tell you about how strict the COVID rules actually are?

So tired of the media on both sides lying about COVID.

The game wasn’t full. Not sure what you’re on about.

Not in Knoxville...but it's solely because of the product being put on the field.

With the exception for Tulane due to the short notice relocation, Oklahoma has been at full capacity.

not at LSU, you won't. The administration has done everything possible to run off patrons and this was supposed to be the best AD in the world.

No.

Attendance has been falling for years.

Hell, Nick Saban has to yell at the students to come to the game and stay, and Alabama wins the title every year.

Add to that that the players are now pro athletes. You have to donate $10,000 for the honor of buying tickets, $25 parking, overpriced concessions, ever-shrinking seats, etc, and it is too expensive for families and not really worth it for the experience.

I go watch Sewanee play when I go to live games. Nice drive up into the mountains, park two minutes from the field, volunteer donations to the Boy Scout troop for parking, no admission to the game, beautiful campus, $1 hot dogs, and a fun experience.

Kicks the shite out of SEC football if you want a relaxing experience and don't care about the level of football being played.

Went to Saints-Panthers Sunday. Not even close to full. Got club level tickets on the goal line for $116ea.

Take it up with the University of Florida.

They announced over the loudspeaker it was the 5th largest attendance for any game in the history of Ben Hill Griffin stadium.

They lied. If you believe your lying eyes when you see vacant seats on tv, the house isn't full.
The question is, Why did UF feel the need to lie about the attendance?

Im not convinced they did, there were huge issues with ticketing getting in which resulted in a slow arriving crowd.

All the tickets are digital now and the Bama contingent in particular were having major issues getting their tickets downloaded outside the stadium.

I saw hundreds if not thousands outside fighting the app to get their tickets so they could walk in. It was a good lesson to always pull the tickets down early to your iphone wallet.

It wasn’t just early on. There were clear sections of empty seats in the corners through out the game.

Actually, it was packed. 5th largest crowd in the history of the Swamp. And, if you look at pictures, it was full.

The problem was the crowd arriving a little late because of the electronic ticket issues. They couldn't get in for the pregame. So, the early views looked that way.

Nope. I just checked my pictures and video on my phone from doing a stadium sweep. Packed like sardines.

I do think the covid year off will have a lasting impact on fan attendance going forward

I also think the transfer portal is going to hurt as well
No more loyalty to team and programs anymore
Players will come and go and the whole NIL deal is going to create competitive imbalances which is going to affect teams going forward
