Like a spinning top?

Instant Gratification is not in the cards for most programs!

Oh, and wait 5 or 6 yrs until a coach shows he can sustain a program before backing up the bank to his front door.. good grief!.....

It's because Saban has processed the entire conference. It will slow down when he retires and stops destroying all of us.

LSU’s next coach will be there for 20 years. It’s going to be a reign of terror like the conference has rarely seen before.

When your viewpoint is from one that is a huge successful anomaly, it really doesn’t make much sense to anyone else.

TBH I don't understand it. I'm a pretty competitive person but if I'm in a place I like getting paid multiple millions a year at a place like say NC state or MsState or Louisville... Wherever it may be as long as I'm making bowl games with an occasional great season I'm staying for 20 years at least his day and age with a top 8 teams that will ever only be the ones playing for a "title". Now if one of those 8 teams came calling I might make the jump. It would take some serious convincing though. Like some strippers and all access passes to the newest model of jet skis.

Yes, my point exactly! But is it?

Case in point: Kentucky' head football coach Mark Stoops. Ky resisted pulling the plug on Stoop's early years and instead gave him the support he and the program needed in order to build a competitive and sustainable program.. I've been to the old ky stadium and if I was top recruit that would have turned me away right then and there!

But, wow! The new Kroger field that the cats call home is immaculate and completely up-to-date..A showplace if ever I've seen one! I've been told the other football facilities are also state of art and really cool! Rumors are an Indoor football bldg is on the way!

Hence, the talent B. Stoops is luring to ky has gotten better incrementally from yr to yr..

And the product has got better and better!

Stoops can coach and run a successful program at the basketball school given time maybe championships!

Time, time, time...

Time!

Isn't it the same like you're new to this place? How did that happen? Did you get banded or you found a better web site to post comments at the moment?

It's not just college football. Its society as a whole for the most part. Everyone wants results fast in the internet age. I'm no expert but I can't imagine it's good for the sport long term.

Coaches already had a short leash, but social media has just made it shorter. The media can turn on a coach, and then influence the fans. And once the fans start their frenzy online, it really never ends until that coach is fired. Fans actively work against their own team to turn away recruits. It's crazy.

Programs that have tried to stand up against this have pretty much all been humiliated. Once the fanbase decides their coach is garbage it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Even if that coach learns from his mistakes and dramatically improves with time, he not only loses the support from the honeymoon phase but also faces immense headwinds.

Yep! But, our time is coming. What if we hire coach A from a top school and he fails to win the SEC in 3 yrs or never sniffs the playoffs.

Do we shuttle him or give him a little more time?

My guess is he'll be gone and the next hottest coach hired.

And then.........the cycle to getting in on recruits and earning trust from the Coaches of highschoools begins anew!

It has to stop! Better to give more time if there are signs of improvement.. coaches can miss on hires just as AD'S can.. giving more time, some of these things can fix themselves.
