"I am just glad you holier than thou a-holes have decided not to drag some of us behind your trucks."
James Bryd Jr. was dragged to death in Jasper Texas by some white trash guys who were most likly tu t-shirt fans.
Jasper is near Louisiana and over 4 hours from Aggieland.
Get it right plus at Texas A&M we love our country and its true flag the AMERICAN flag. Not some southern red rag.

And you have no retort. All men are created equal. Don't use the constitution as your evidence then try and ignore it as rebuttal. You re a sad pathetic little man with nothing to live for in life but your pathetic Civil War re-enactments. Have fun with your goats hillbilly.
Again, this is beneath me, but what the hell..........
First off, the words "All men are created equal...." were part of THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE...............and NOT the U.S. Constitution.
Second off, the Declaration of Independence was written by a slave-holder at a time when slaves were in every colony north AND South..
You are dumb.
It's time for you to admit it and apologize.

Again I kind of knew the SEC was not the right place for Texas A&M from an academic standpoint.
We fit the ACC more than the SEC as far as academics go but at least I thought the SEC schools were patriotic....
now I find out they are still rooting for the confederacy. Seems like the SEC has more in common with that hippy school in austin. They hate the American flag in austin too.

I know you're proving a point (or trying to), but the answer here is "so?"

Don't paint them all with the same brush

Lived most of my life in southern states, and I can assure you SEC schools share our values more closely than those of the sips (oh and can we quit talking about the klanhorns por favor?)

Well, since this has turned into a political thread, all I can say is for as much as many people around me in S. GA keep saying that race isn't a factor is their dislike of President Obama, they always seem to sneer at the African Americans voting for him just because he is black. Of course, they are likely voting for Romney just because he isn't black.
All I can say is, while I don't think Barack Obama has been the best POTUS, I don't think I can ever vote for a candidate that flies the "willfully ignorant" flag of the Tea Party and extreme Right. I actually feel bad for the fiscal and philosophical conservatives who have seen the political hijacking of their own party. But hey...keep saying that Syria is Iran's route to the sea and that education is just a liberal elite ideal.

In reply to the original post..."will there ever be a successful push to drop Ole Miss/Rebels?"
Revisionist history is dangerous. We can be a beacon for change. So, in other words...HELL NO.

I do not believe that you and academics have anything in common. You tried to act like the Southeast was a giant racist cesspool and Texas was a bastion of racial harmony. I pointed out that it is not. Racism is everywhere and you pretending that it doesn't exist in College Station is just going to perpetuate it further. You trying to act above all this makes you seem like the stuck up "t-sips" all the aTm folks talk about.

"The Civil War wasn't about slavery! It was about State's rights... ... ...to have slaves".
Then why did Lincoln propose an amendment to the Constitution AFTER the Southern secession....... which would PERMANENTLY prevent the federal government from ever intevening on the issue of slavery??????
The South's economy was driven by slavery. This is not up for debate. Lincoln had made several comments indirectly condemning the institution during his political career, thus causing the southern states to feel threatened upon his election. Even though I truly believe Lincoln's mission was NOT to reform the south into a slave-less area during his tenure, the south's actions forced his hand somewhat (I say "somewhat," because even the emancipation proclamation failed to immediately free all slaves).
In short, the South's overreaction to the mere specter of Lincoln's anti-slavery sentiments was what caused the war to break out in the first place. Was the war about states rights? Yes, but to stop there and ignore the deeper issues behind their motives is myopic, at best.

The declaration of Independence, you are correct and I am wrong, not the Constitution.
Declaration of Independence, under the notion that all men are created equal. The basis for the United States of America. Yes T. Jefferson was a slave owner. Is this the basis for your line of thought that the south should have been allowed to secede and have slaves to this day? Are you under the assumption that all thing should remain as they are and never change. The fact is ,the Southern States started a war and couldn't do what it took to win. This is what you are arguing. I bet you are the type of boy who wishes that blacks still had to move to the other side of the street when the white women come along. You are a racist and it comes across clearly in your postings. Deal with your shite boy.
