It's also hard to keep a school with resources like Florida down forever.

Yeah.....there was this coach at Florida that was hired about 30 years ago in 1990 named Steve Spurrier.

I'm aware. Florida was an elite program from about 1992-2009. Outside that, they've been nothing more than a solid program. Resources only get you so far.

College football is better when some teams are relevant. Tennessee is one of those teams. They have a rich history and great fan base. Having said that Tennessee faces a challenge recruiting against Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. These schools sit in talent rich places and when they are winning it becomes very difficult for Tennessee to pull recruits like they have in the past. There isn’t enough talent in the state of Tennessee for them to compete and they have to pull from surrounding states.
Thus, not only do they require a good football coach, it is imperative that their recruiting is top notch.

They can I think, but if they do decide to fire Butch, they better have a solid candidate lined up, and I'm not talking about something risky like Gruden or Tee Martin.

and tell me how LSU that is relevant for the possibility of Florida not being a powerhouse? I already know it's possible for LSU not to be. And the AP has a poll that ranks who is a pwoerhouse and who isn't? Weird

Take it up with the AP.

Hour and a half drive to Nashville, and Memphis is overrated as far as football recruits go.

Damn, I thought Nashville was much further. I take it back.

people were asking this same question about bama when msu was crooming shula.

Yeah, but they were also asking this same question about Ole Miss after Vaught left.

Do you know how long ever is? I'd say within at least the next thousand years they will be a powerhouse at some point

If lowly Clempson could get it done, Tennessee absolutely can.

They were smart, and hired a Bama player. You should check Jay Barker, and see about his availability. Guaranteed championship.

Tennessee is quickly catching up to alabama in high school talent(already passed South Carolina and Mississippi) With the Mid state talent explosion, Tennessee is set up now more than ever to be a powerhouse. Hell, even Lyle recruited well

First you must rid yourself of Lyle.
Do that then we can talk.
