Given the recent return of the Heisman by Bush, to prevent a repeat, will the NCAA if in possession of critical information on Newton, rule sooner?
For me, I think it would be irresponsible for them not to act -- and obviously that is to LSU's advantage!

NCAA has no say as to what the Downtown Athletic Club does.

i would think they would act to protect the national title first (read: protect their asses)

They had their chance to give it to a deserving Stanford player last year...doubt thet change their MO.

No cause they aren't the same. I think the laptop and cheating will be enough to ensure sCam doesn't win it.

You are correct but there is an integrity clause in the selection of the HT. If they know he does not meet that, will they act?

Sure, okay.
But they have as much say so in the Heisman, as they do the Super Bowl MVP.

The voters will not vote for Cam Newton in early December. There is more of this saga to unfold.

If this doesn't get cleared up by then, there will be enough people that completely leave Cam off the ballot to keep him from winning it. It'll probably go to the Boise kid since James choked out his girlfriend this summer.

Heisman rules state that it must be given to an eligible player. If the NCAA declares Cam ineligible, then he cannot get the Heisman.

They don't give a rat's arse about the Heisman Trophy.

You are correct Peterson would not -- but an early ruling by the NCAA - Auburn's wins would be vacated and LSU will win the West.

Then your thread should state "Will the NCAA act to protect the BCS MNC?". Because the Heisman Trophy has jack to do with LSU.

I was foolish to think this would have ended Saturday night.

The NCAA doesn't hand out the BCSNC. So they really have their asses covered regardless of what happens.

You seem to be the only one have trouble understanding the post -- but as an Auburn fan that is the color of your glasses.

I have to agree with the fan of the school whose name I shall not mention.
FWIW, the NCAA doesn't officially recognize a champion in FBS. That's why it's called the Mythical National Championship. And it's why a school I shall not name can claim the 1957 national title despite being banned from playing in bowl games that year.
