He's a great defensive coach. Auburn lacks the talent needed and they're still learning a new system. Muschamp isn't known for a bland defense so you have to expect a learning curve.

Like being 3-6 against UGA as a coach (2 wins while at LSU in 2003, 1 win at UF in 2014)

But that one was forking awesome.
He's a UG plant. There is no doubt at this point. fricking up another UG rival.

I honestly thought he was; not so sure now.
so three shitty games as DC for a team that has tons of injuries and a lack of talent trumps all his years of very good defenses?
You sir, are my hero...

His defense looks bad; he has looked clueless this year. . I think it's a legitimate question.

Depends on how you look at it. Yes is my answer.
Combine the injuries of so many key players with one of our 5* defensive linemen getting kicked off the team, I would say he is low on defensive talent right now
Call it what you want.
I have full confidence that he can make our defense "good" again. Will it be great? I think that will be a tough task with our offensive style

Regardless of his recruiting and coaching abilities, Muschamp has definitely lost his mojo.
Coach in waiting at Texas takes Florida job and essentially Zook's it.
Runs his mouth at SEC media days about taking on all comers and doesn't know why anyone complains about schedules. Narrowly escapes ULL and loses to Ga So.
Highly sought after as DC. Paid handsomely by Auburn and right out the blocks gets out schemed by none other than Jacksonville St.
Many of LSUs successful plays were straight off game film from Jacksonville St.

One thing I have not seen mentioned is the fact that maybe it's harder to have great defenses when your offense is primarily spread based, with some hurry up elements. Muschamp himself used that point in recruiting defensive players against the likes of Auburn.

Yes he is. He took over an abysmal defense from ellis. Give him some time to recruit his guys. Not to mention they were dealing with a lot of injuries on that side of the ball.

I'm sure his sales pitch is different but it's going to be harder to keep a straight face when he's selling the notion that the Gus offense is not problem for his defense.

Muschamp's track record proves he is good at coaching defense. Auburn's struggles on defense are probably stemming more from their shitty offense than a lack of quality defensive coaching. JJ is so bad that it's affecting the team at every leve
Sorantable said it all IMO.

It is the problem but not for the reasons all the tards here have been saying for years.

He's a top notch defensive coach, but the defense is struggling so far because of a new scheme and injuries. If we stick with Boom, our defense will get better next year.

He is a good coach, we have a lot if players that either don't have the talent or are soft as players. If you watch the d you can see a handful of Gus that are good or showing promise and most of those are true freshman that he brought in

Muschamp is good DC. He needs talent.
The offense isn't helping him or his players either. They looked wore out before halftime.
Our OL and running game is likely going to do that to most teams we face this year.

Auburn's talent is pretty pedestrian on that side of the ball. Hard to judge him with such average players.
His track record speaks for itself, IMO.

Do tell. Where has he had simply dominant Defenses? Where has he shown consistent top 5 or 10 defenses?
Will is good, but the whole "record speaks for itself" line is easy to say and harder to back up.

LSU as a DC ...
first Auburn stint as a DC ...
Texas as a DC ...
Florida as a HC ...
