Don't give up on Chizik already. Give the man a chance! Maybe 2 or 3 more years he could turn things around.

From 14-0 to 1-6 in two years. Hard to imagine how things could get much worse.

Just curious, is Jimbo a Sexton client? If so, all this alleged willingness to come to the Plains by Jimbo behind the scenes is classic Sexton. Invent an desire to move elsewhere to extort more dough from the present employer.
Not to mention the money Fisher would have to pay FSU to get out of his deal right now - That is as much of a hinderance even IF he desired to come.

I wonder just how many schools will be looking for a coach for next year? There is turnover every year but I don't remember this many in the SEC at once.
Arkansas
Auburn
Tennessee
Kentucky
And various others across the USA, like Boston College'
The competition for available coaches may be intense.

No.. The buyout is about 200K a month minus any salary Chizik gets in terms of employment.. Sure he could sit around for a few years and collect his 200k a month unemployment, but I don't see that happening..
Money won't be an issue.. If it were a lump sum, it probably would be though.
Chizik is gone.

What happened in '07?
I don;t know if this is what is being referred to, but supposedly, Muschamp got into a big fight with Jay Jacobs because he asked for some extra tickets to our bowl game and JJ said 'no'.
After that, (supposedly) CWM called his agent and said "get me out of here". That's when he went to Texas.
ETA: Obviously, there was a lot of animosity leading up to that, but that was supposedly the last straw.

Muschamp wasn't going to come here as long as Jacobs was around after what happened in 2007. Jimbo's name was popular in 08 as well. Pretty much anytime there's an HC opening at Auburn now, Jimbo's name will be mentioned.
Muschamp had come to an agreement that he would report directly to Gogue, bypassing Jacobs, which would basically spell the end of Jacobs as AD.
I don't even think Muschamp's biggest beef was with JJ as much as it was with Tim Jackson. Jacobs just sided with Jackson with the whole 2007 ticket debacle. Muschamp saw the AD administration as the circus and amateur show that it was (and still is).

A team can get better even while losing, we are not and it isn't due to injuries as Chizik is trying to play off.
I suspect his time at AU is over this season, just too much to overcome.
