Seems like that might be a possibility on the surface discuss:

I would think Charlie's first goal with scheduling is to make sure he schedules games they should win, so no.

Do coaches in their first year at a program have influence over scheduling?
I would guess no.

With schedules set years ahead, how would this affect his scheduling? Serious question.

Coaches don't schedule. This is the AD's job.

No. He's going to be busy unraveling the beurocratic mess that is Texas football while dealing with the fans, LHN, board, and general malaise and lack of enthusiasm that's present in the players.

pretty much all of this.
also, we are the new power brokers in the state of Texas. doesn't matter what the zippers want, only way it happens is if we want it to.

Looks like year 5 or 6 for Strong would be the earliest logical time to add anyone.

Charlie's first goal
Do coaches in their first year
Coaches don't schedule
Some of you just don't understand so well but, thanks for playing just the same.

Yep, A&M power-broked its schedule to include powerhouses like utep, smu, rice, sam houston st, charlie's barber college.......

He could try. I don't expect us to say yes. Can't speak for LSU.

With TAMU they might find away to get it done, but UT has no history of playing LSU on any kind of regular basis.

Exactly, we full. Unlike Texas we don't need good OOC games to boost our home schedule. We have conference games fans actually give a shite about.

You won 4 conference games !!! Good for Aggie - Same as in the Big 12 - Your schedule is a joke. Its designed to make you bowl eligible.

And your conference members were hand picked by deloser and man tits brown to ensure bowl eligibility.

They were never a factor in the Big 12, there is no reason to think they will finish better than 4th in the west on a regular basis

Lets compare 2014 home schedules shall we?
A&M:
Lamar
Rice
Ole Miss
Louisiana-Monroe
Missouri
LSU
Starts off slow but we get Texas's biggest 2013 OOC game at home, the SEC East winner at home, and LSU at home on Thanksgiving.
Texas:
North Texas
BYU Cougars
Baylor Bears
Iowa State Cyclones
West Virginia Mountaineers
TCU Horned Frogs
Nothing there even close to Mizzou, Ole Miss or especially LSU, except for maybe the Bears. It is like the Harlem Globetrotters playing against five versions of the Washington Generals.
I know what season ticket package provides more value to me as a fan.
And I don't know why you are beating your chest about total schedule. The only other games you have worth watching are OU and UCLA. Meanwhile we play Alabama, USCe, Auburn and Arkansas next year. Any of those would be Texas's biggest OOC game in a given year.
Plus you must consider that Texas's biggest game every year- the RRR- hasn't even been a top 10 rated regular season game the last two years. Meanwhile A&M has played three top 10 rated regular season games in that span.
Schedule smack talk is something Texas fans should avoid for a while, at least until you are in a conference that is nationally relevant.
