No, you were trying to troll and start shite, and then 3 posts later you went back and said that the record should count. So which is it, you agree with the op, or you are trying to start shite?
And there is no need to start calling people names. I called you on your bullshite. Admit it, and lets move on.

The talk of Clowney winning the hiesman. How close does he need to get, if he broke the single season record then sure he'd be a shoe in but he really hasn't come close. Sacks are the glory stat for d-lineman, so where dies he need to get to be mentioned as one of the greats?
Clowney most likely will not break 27 sacks in a season. That would be 2.3 per game on a 12 game schedule. I believe, he is 9 sacks away from breaking the USC career record.
To win the Heisman, he probably needs to get close to 20 sacks, but also have some game changing plays, like turnovers or defense TD's.

You're pretty damn stupid, aren't you? It's not trolling when it's stating facts. The NCAA doesn't recognize it as the official record. Therefore, it's not the record to beat. Terrell Suggs's stats are.

Because I do think it should count, but here's the thing: I'm not in charge of what is official and what isn't. Therefore, my want for it to count as the official record isn't the be all and end all.

Just because you don't like facts, doesn't mean it's a troll and/or bullshite. It just means you're fricking stupid.

No, youre right. You had absolutly no intention of trolling.

Settle down. He was being funny. If it hurts your feelings so much, quit claiming fake titles, brotha. You gave lip service to calling out and all that. You can only "call someone out" when you are right. You unfortunately did not box our esteemed vol colleague in. Your criticism was wrong. Thems the breaks sometimes, cochise.
On another note, get started on getting me flagship board access inVOL!

No, I nailed it right on the head. He was trolling, I called him on it, then he started calling me names. Its cute that you are here to defend him though.

Chris Jones should break it this year, and, if not, will definitely break it next year.

Back on topic, D.T has, unofficially statistically, the greatest defensive season and career of all times in regards to the two glory stats for D-lineman, Sacks and Tackles for Loss.
Don't think either of those two stats will ever be eclipsed. D.T is the Gold Standard and the GOAT.
He is the greatest pass rusher of all time. Terrell Suggs had the best career statistics. He did his damage in three years at ASU and didn't have Cornelius Bennett and Keith McCants. Name another defender on ASU from 2000-2002.

Not in the SEC, at least. I could see some ridiculous DE/OLB dominating the Big 12 or WAC or some other lesser conference. The competitive balance of the SEC limits the possibility of records like that being broken.

I think domination of the Big 12 would be unlikely given the spread offenses that make it tricky to blitz the quartered back. I would think B1G would be a good league to have someone challenge the record.

Suggs is in the SEC? This thread was specifically about SEC players.
Suggs was great but DT was better and played vs better competition.

True, but you have teams like Texas Tech (with Leach and now Kingsbury) who pass 70+ times a game giving more opportunity to get to the QB. The quick release game definitely hinders the ability, but my thinking was that more passing attmepts = more sack opportunities.
I think the B1G is too run heavy to get a real challenger to the record.

I agree, plus most SEC defensive players don't play every play anymore. There are more specialist for certain situations. Different era

Why do people get pissed when they say Derrick Thomas was the GREATEST OF ALL TIME. Then I say Suggs was statistically more impressive. Then you seriously come back and say that we were talking only about the SEC? Why did you use the term "greatest of all time" to describe the greatest of a subset of all players at any and all times?
I mean, sweet jesus, you just said:

Then you blame someone else for addressing your point?

The single season mark will never be touched. The career is more likely, but still way out there.

IMO DT and Reggie White are the two best that the SEC has ever had. White's stats don't put him at 2 (Billy Jackson of MSU) but I remember him as a beast wreaking havoc on the SEC.
