It was 4th down. Alabama needed to convert the 4th down in order to be able to fully run out the clock. It just so happened that Vandy didn’t tackle the running back and he scored. It’s not like Bama was throwing a bomb to the endzone.

I think DeBoer going to realize you don't do stuff like that in the SEC.
Your team certainly doesn’t do it, but for that matter, your offense scoring a touchdown at all is a big event.

They ran the ball on 4th down and Vandy didn’t stop it.
Exactly. This was quite different than Spurrier throwing deep in the 4Q with a 3 TD lead at Florida back in the 90's.

I've never understood this mindset of sports fans. Nothing makes me angrier than the other team taking pity and taking a knee. Unless you're playing an FCS team, the other team deserves the respect of you trying to score. I remember some Arkansas fans complaining about Les Miles trying to run up the score in 2011 and it was just embarrassing to me. We were #3 in the nation and started out 14–0 in that game. We were down 17–24 going into the fourth quarter. We fricking earned that last FG they kicked against us.

Vanderbilt was calling timeouts on those last Bama offensive plays to get to 4th down. Vanderbilt clearly thought the game was not
over / was still in doubt and was trying to save time for their offense to get the ball back. Alabama needed the first down to ice the game. Bama running back simply ran straight ahead until someone tackled him.

Exactly.
Vandy was calling timeouts to try to get the ball back with 40 or so seconds left.
Even if they had less than a .001% chance of scoring twice in 50 secs if Bama would have given them the ball back, I like that they didn't give up and just let Bama take a knee.
But, they didn't give up and made Bama
