Haven't Arkansas and aTm played in the same number of BCS games even though aTm had the luxury of playing in a much weaker conference?

I thought Arkansas had a terrible bowl record until I saw aTm's. 3-8 in the BCS era, and out scored by 92 points in those games. Talk about manning up.

That Alabama team sucked

That Alabama team ended up finishing the season in the top 10.

I glad our recent success means a top 10 finish is sucky

Lot's of dumb in this thread, besides the obvious (i.e. an Aggie talking down to a team above them.) But since we've already gone there, I'll play:

Arkansas SOS according to NCAA:

2012 - 6th
2011 - 25th
2010 - 2nd
2009 - 4th
2008 - 5th

Change the link for other years

That's as far as it goes back, but we played USC-W and Texas OOC before that. We've played Okie State regularly over the years and the only reason we haven't played many Big Ten teams is because they won't play us (we're not prestigious enough.) We always seem to have one of the toughest schedules in the SEC, for some odd reason.

And whoever mentioned us losing to OSU by 10 in '99 is wrong, because our first meeting with the Buckeyes was in the '10 Sugar Bowl.

I don't think so.

I never said Nutt was great but he is the second best coach Arkansas has had since joining the SEC.

He's also the second worst coach in Arkansas history (at least in modern times.) I'd only put him ahead of Jack Crowe, who regrettably was our coach when we began SEC play.

I'm not going to blame all our misfortunes on coaching, but the truth is that the only good coach Arkansas has had in the SEC was Petrino. Hopefully, Bielema will be the next one, but that remains to be seen. Crowe started us on a downward path in our final years in the SWC and we're just now recovering, imo.

Sure you can. That's what A&M does.

Well we don't have as many institutionally damning disadvantages as Arkansas, what else are we supposed to blame?

Arkansas' problems are deep and nearly unshakeable, but simple to understand:

1: During the program's glory years, the lifeblood of their program was Texas talent. They thrived on players from DFW and east Texas. Frank Broyles recruited Texas like a boss. They haven't recruited Texas well in over 20 years.

2: They can't even regularly keep the few great players from Arkansas in state. Up until this past year, Missouri recruited Arkansas better than Arkansas did for the majority of the last decade.

3: They insist on being dipshits and playing games in a shitty 50K stadium in Little Rock when they have a pretty damn nice stadium at home.

4: Their coach is fat.
