Didn't Stanberry have some NCAA violation?

I assume you are talking about Gottfried, and he was not the best basketball coach we've had. He only had 2 winning seasons in conference, had an atrocious road record, didn't know what defense was, players hated him, and he was having an affair with a grad student. Those are just a few of the reasons.

Stansberry refused to cut players that needed to be cut and couldn't keep guys motivated worth a shite. He needed to go.

UALR's old HC is the best Bama has ever had?

To answer Lat's question, both were too good to settle for mediocrity.

He was a very good coach! Coached from '80/81 to 91/'92 and we went to 10 NCAA tournaments and 6 sweet 16's.

Coached a 28-5 team and couple of 26 win teams.

eta We were nearly unbeatable at home too. Won 3 sec tournaments in a row.

Gottfried was definitely not the best coach we had, even though he got us the farthest ever in the tournament. If you paid attention to his seasons closely after '06, it was time. His defenses were atrocious, the teams didn't play well together at all, his recruiting was "meh", and he hadn't beaten Auburn in ages.

No. It was a bad team that barely got into the tournament, and almost lost to Northern Illinois or someone like that in the first round.

So it took actual hands on coaching to take Bama the furthest they have ever been in the tourney.

Please tell me more.

Like stating Pelfree was the best coach Arkansas ever had.

By that logic, a mid major coach who wins the conference tournament and loses in the sweet sixteen and finishes the season 22-17....is the best coach in their school history.
never mind they have better coaches who has better records and multiple trips to the NCAAT.

That would be retarded. a Second round Exit doesn't register when 3 separate HCs have taken your team to the final four.

It actually took a player (Pettway) saying, "frick these coaches. We're going to win some games on our own."

So now we have an example of a coach motivating his team towards a goal and achieving success.

More.

So, is Stan Heath a better coach than Mike Anderson? He took Arkansas to more tournaments.

Never should have ran off Stansbury. He didn't have control of his teams but at least we always had some 5 star ballers and were always on the bubble. #firerickray
