Stats can definitely be deceiving, Joe had a very nice game. He showed poise in the pocket and made good decisions with the football. He’s only been on campus a few months, he’s still finding his way with his teammates. For game 1 it was very encouraging, not saying he’s the next Tom Brady but he showed enough to make LSU fans think he can be the kind of guy we need to have a productive offense.
Agree, he did a nice job doing what he was supposed to do. The type of job fans of his team would be happy with (as they rightfully are) but that fans of other teams wouldn't really talk much about (as the OP suggets).

Yeah OP is silly especially considering it was against an OOC team. If he goes out and leads us to a win against Auburn people around the conference will start paying attention.

He didn't look bad at all. Those "hey, he threw the ball away and a defender touched him" excuses for stats are dumb, though.
The stats are the stats
*I will say he should probably have a TD pass to his credit

Definitely - I'm really looking forward to that one.

Fitzgerald has a better completion percentage than Burrow.

People want to be skeptical about Tua. But want to anoint Burrow and his game managing performance against Miami?

Fitzgerald got weak bones bro. He won't make it to December.

no offensive gameplan - no matter how conservative - revolves around not completing passes.
Army beats Air Force without attempting a pass, which it seems like has been Jeff Monken’s plan all along

Who in the world is skeptical of Tua?

Stats can be deceiving.
Drops, throwaways, and QB pressures happen in every game. 117 other quarterbacks didn’t seem to have such an issue figuring out how to complete a pass, and 95 other quarterbacks managed to gain more yards per each completion.

I was at that game. It was both mind numbing and incredible to behold. On top of that, Air Force was shut out.

LSU soundly kicked Miami’s arse with Joe Burrow at QB.
Cool with me.
Cool with me.

Probably because he may be the worst of the bunch since Flynn.
He looked ok at best but not any better than the last few. I never saw a fan base so giddy over a 40 percent passer. They are looking for something, anything positive to the point they are now manufacturing it. We would have crucified hurts for that kind of game. Fromm would be crucified by UGA fans with that kind of game. They r reaching big time on this kid.

You obviously didn't watch the game. LSU sat on the ball for the whole second half.
Burrow may or may not turn out to be good for LSU -- I have no interest in trying to predict based off a single game -- but sitting on the ball isn't exactly a resounding endorsement of a QB. If a coach thinks the team is better off sitting on the ball than letting his QB lead scoring drives, it would seem the coach lacks confidence in the QB. That may be a coaching issue rather than a quarterbacking issue, but it's an issue all the same.

Average Joe is a good game manager. I mean, not the best arm, not the best athlete, but a real smart player. I can see why they liked him so much in tOSU, he is a very likable guy. Maybe LSU doesn't need anything else from a qb than protecting the ball and making good decisions. I do wonder if they will play one of their gunslingers if they fall behind a couple of td's.

We will see how Joe does the rest of the season.

Joe burrow isn't as good as mettenberger or etling.
