Where they never offered a membership? They have always been known as a football school in a basketball conference just like UK is a basketball school in a football conference.
Is it just their location? There must be a story here

Uhhhhhhh you really don’t know?
Have you heard of the South Carolina Gamecocks?

They want to skate by in the ACC. However, I do think Clemson would compete quite well in the SEC. Don't let the NC game fool you.

Then there would be no parity in CFB. It would be SEC after SEC team winning it all every year. We’d get promoted up to a minor league for the NFL along with possibly Ohio State. Because while they only won that one title in the CFP era, they dish out NFL talent with the best of them.

Who? To be fair, I only follow football teams. Could you tell me about that logo by your name also? It looks interesting. Do y'all have a football team?

0 market share you get from them with South Carolina already being a member.

They don’t want to be in the SEC concerning football. They have it made in that weak conference.

They were supposed to leave the ACC with South Carolina when we did but pussied out.

They would just steal even more traditions.

They were a founding member of the ACC, along with UofSC. It was a tight geographic footprint originally: NC, SC, VA and MD.

Why is an aggy lecturing a fan of an SEC founding member about conference history?

They screwed Clemson and us by raising admissions standards for athletes, creating an exceptions process loaded with Big 4 influence and then routinely denied the athletes who wanted to go to USC or Clemson. We had a gentleman's agreement to secede together. Our BOT followed through, theirs didn't. Clemson's football success has given them a lot more pull in the conference in recent years, but it's never been that way. For example, in the 1990's Rick Barnes committed the ultimate sin by getting in Dean Smith's face for yelling at a Clemson player during a game. You'd have thought he beat the guy up. The ACC has always treated Clemson like a stepchild. They did the same to us. The states of South Carolina and North Carolina are very different and, at times, really dislike each other.

When South Carolina came into the SEC I wondered why them instead of Clemson at the time. There was no internet available to get read on today's juicy topic. two seconds of research today got me this:
South Carolina was a founding member of the ACC in 1953 but split with them in 1971 since the conference seemed to favor the four North Carolina schools in basketball recruiting and political affiliations (sound familiar?)
They remained independent in Football until they joined the SEC in 1991. Dang, I think of them as newbies from the ACC and they have been in the SEC 29 years and were only in the ACC 18 years. Crazy..I must be getting old.

You have the wrong school. USC is in the Pac-12 Conference....South Carolina's in the SEC.

I'd honestly love to see them join the SEC. Kick Mizzou out and send them back to the midwest.

They would win the East division most seasons.
