In the SEC Bylaws it states that the SECT must be played in the host city of the Final Four if not the arena if in the footprint/Geographical area of the SEC

It is why the SECT went to Tampa and Nola a couple times.

You can argue Houston is in the SEC footprint due to aTm.

aTm joined 4 years ago so the bids could've been modified.

They've pretty much made Nashville the permanent home of the tourney. Good call IMO

I'd imagine there's a possible exception where the host site was set prior to the addition of new members.

Because People from Kentucky love Nashville for whatever reason. People from Kentucky as a whole care about SEC basketball the most.

It's played in Nashville for the next decade or so with one exception year it will be in Atlanta. It's played where Kentucky wants it because we're the ones who sell it out and put asses in the seats. That's not braggin, trash talk,or hubris...its fact. Ask the rest of the fans around here Aggie. Kentucky makes the SECT turn a profit, end of discussion.

Do you know why it's played in Catlanta that year? It's the host of Final Four. Not saying Nashville isn't a great place, just asking why they went against the bylaw.

I'd rather it be in Atlanta had good times when going there for it, but I've heard the tourney in Nashville is fun.

Yes, I was aware that was the reasoning behind it. But in all seriousness, its in Nashville because it is the closest to Lexington. If they decided to put it in Houston or Dallas we would still sell it out for sure. It is a ghost town in the arena on the rare instances Kentucky doesn't make the final round.

The SECT is an excuse for all of the Kentucky fans who can't afford to get in to Rupp Arena take their vacation from work. No joke. Folks plan their year around it here. The blue bloods who sit on their hands at Rupp quietly don't make the trip...you end up with drunken jackasses like myself hootin and hawin for all 40 minutes. The best and the worst of our fanbase
