I think a big part of it is that he's much happier here. he really likes Tuscaloosa.

Great coach, facilities, and the fan base.

I think Coach Saban is the same coach now as compared to LSU or Michigan State
I'll give you LSU but anyone who knows anything about him knows he changed his whole coaching philosophy after the 1998 season while at Michigan State. It was in the offseason of 1998-1999 that he invented and patented the so-called "Process".

scheduling is the obvious answer here

That is a legitimate point. LSU has to play Florida every year and Saban had problems with Florida when he was at LSU even when with Ron Zook as their head coach. I know Saban's done well against Meyer but he definitely wouldn't have beaten him every single year. Saban probably wouldn't have won four championships at LSU just based on the tougher schedule.

Why is Nick Saban such a better coach at UA than at LSU?
Coaching craft development. A great coach will development his own system over time based on personal experience and outside influences. Saban was not the same coach at LSU that he became at Bama after a wake-up call in the NFL.

Because he stayed longer at Bama. If he had stayed at LSU the Tigers would have at least one more crystal, probably two. Saban is an all world coach, he recruits talented players and he gets them to full potential, resulting in incredible results. Period.
