Why is MU playing Missouri St?

They have nothing to gain from this. When I was at SMS they refused to play us in the 2 big sports, for a very good reason, nothing to gain.
They can name the score, they are supposed to win, and if by off chance it is close it does harm to the Tigers.
I truly believe you do not play an instate school that is D1 unless forced to by law or conference.

Just about every school has a rent a win.

Missouri's OOC scheduling has been an absolute embarrassment since joining the conference.
On par with Mississippi St.

They could get ILS, SIU, Eastern, or Western all within 4 hours of campus to play them. SMS is a bad choice, IMO.

What is the state of Missouri's equivalent of Auburn? We need those fans to stand up for Missouri State

Missouri State is one of the worst division 1 programs around. They haven't won 7 games in a season since 1996. They've also had 16 losing seasons since then. They pretty much are a division II school.

Nobody needs to stand up for us. I am just saying it is a bad if not horrific scheduling move by the MU people.
MU has no business playing them, at least when they played Kent, Akron, etc they were FBS not FCS and out of state. Going to a FBS school is not as bad as playing SMS either, IMO.

Which is my whole point, you do not give SMS a shot at you. You let SIU or someone out of state get the shot.

You make it sound as if the cupcake opponent we pick is some sort of massive cash grab that is crucial to our schedule. Nobody really cares. We just picked a school for our cupcake game and we will pay them money to play us just like any other cupcake opponent. Nobody is going to give two shits if we play SMS or Missouri State. A cupcake opponent is a cupcake opponent.

Now I know why some people would make terrible administrators. You do not ever play an in state school, unless forced to just by the chance. If for some unforeseen reason MU loses, this will be devastating. They have nothing to gain from this and everything to lose. You just do not play this game. You schedule somebody like the Illinois schools for this game, not SEMO or SMS.
You do not want what has happened the last 2 times SMS has played MU in a big 3 sport to happen. And in football it would be a whole lot worse to the program.

Im actually looking forward to this game. MSU fans suck and are annoying, more or less when talking about basketball but o well.

They will end up playing in basketball again I bet, just because of Cuonzo.
Basketball the series is tied I think 2-2 I know it was 1-1 with us winning at Hearnes in a game Norm did not want to play at all.
They could make a killing if they had an all state tournament, MU/UMKC/SLU/SMS/SEMO play it in St Louis or the old Memorial. MU take 40% of the money and the rest take 15% they would jump at that.

Except they do not play an in state opponent. That is what you are failing to realize. The whole point is you do not play an in state opponent. MU screwed up on this one and this game should have never been scheduled. Only reason Iowa has to play UNI is because of a state law, I guarantee you they do not want to play them ever.

They need to do a tournament with mizzou slu and Illinois, since we all hate each other right now.

They need to leave the Illinois game as a stand alone game. Get SLU, SMS, MU, and say UNI just because ties to Norm. That may be get ugly as the fans all hate each others teams and SLU can just play like they hate someone besides MU for no reason.
I know it may never happen but get MU, KU, Illinois, and whomever you want from non P5 and go after it in St Louis, Chicago, and KC.
That would make money.

Apparently all administrators are idiots to you then. LSU has played McNeese recently, A&M played Sam Houston, OU and oSu play Tulsa often. I'm sure I could find 100 examples at least in the past 5 years. Not sure what the big hang up is. If you lose a game you're heavily favored in, it doesn't matter where the team is from, you'll still look bad.

I mean, I don't see why that matters.
Our chances of winning this game are so high that it's not even worth arguing about.

You do not really get it?
Okay what is better to lose to an in state or out of state school? Be close to an in state or out of state school? If you beat the in state school great you were supposed to but you accomplished nothing and it does nothing for you. But if it is close and now you got something brewing that can hurt you for years.
