Cam's brother was on the practice squad. He wasn't making shite but said he would pay the $5,000-$7000 per month fines till the repIrs were made if they wouldn't shut the church down.

He actually made the active roster in Dec 2009 and that would then put him in the minimum rookie salary category.

From the espn link:
"The documents indicate Newton's father, Cecil Newton, and ex-Mississippi State player Kenny Rogers sought from $120,000 to $180,000 for the quarterback to sign with the Bulldogs out of junior college but didn't ask any other school for money.

The NCAA informed Auburn in October that it found no major violations in its investigation of Newton's recruitment or other unrelated pay-for-play allegations and was ending a 13-month probe."

The only thing proven in this ENTIRE mess is that Cecil asked for money.

Which was a violation of at least the spirit of SEC rules and previously the NCAA had said the "parent is the child" when it came to NCAA violations. How the hell he remained eligible I will never know. Assume the NTYF paid big bucks

You know, the one where Bama sent Al a letter of disassociation (LULZ) and the NCAA winked and looked away.

Good stuff, except for, the you know, 400k contract he has just signed prior. But I guess that isnt shite in comparison to what Cam is making now

To be clear he didn't. Auburn per NCAA rules chose to rule him ineligible and the NCAA reinstated him since the NCAA's own by-laws were so vague concerning how to handle a player playing at one school with proof of someone acting on his behalf without his knowledge negotiated a pay for play deal with another schools boosters and coaches.

Because State didn't pay him and reported the solicitation to the NCAA?

Because intent to buy a player is not an NCAA crime, hell buying one isn't one now either.
