What a trash home schedule next year. I guess from that perspective, adding Texas and Oklahoma and going to 9 SEC games is not a bad idea.

Yeah it’s sucks : Tenner away and Ole Miss at home appear to be our most legit challenges in the regular season.

A nice home neutral site vs Virginia to open with a cupcake before going to the swamp then a cupcake before hosting UofSC. A nice bye before hosting TAMU is a great start to the Vols 2023

They were this season, but not sure about next year. Certainly Bama will be ranked higher to start the season, perhaps LSU as well.

LSU has had a couple years like that, where you look at the price you are paying for a season ticket, then see no interesting opponents.

Is a bama fan really criticizing someone else’s OoC schedule?

Bama never plays more than one OOC power 5 game.

Usually Georgia plays 2 power 5 opponents. Who backed out?

Because Auburn is the bigger threat now over those teams you mention on here.

Once the playoff start, the goal is to get INTO the playoffs, not play a hard non-conference schedule that could hurt you. Why put yourselves in a playoff game before the playoffs start.

I hope SEC plays 9 conference games going forward with at least one P5. That schedule is trash and they play in the East which is always worse than the West.

Didn't the Top 2 teams in the East absolutely blow the doors off the SEC West Champion this year?

Congrats on playing a program that has won more than 7 games 4 times in the last 15 years and hadn't won more than 9 until this season.

I'm happy about it. Why in the world would you give them a freebie without a return trip? That'd be ridiculous.

Furthermore, we'll be breaking in a brand new QB so having sevearl games to ease him in and get comfy is just waht the doctor ordered.

You know head to head the east beat the west, right?

And the top 2 teams from the east beat the top 2 teams from the west?

Maybe "always" is too strong a word?
Before you decide to say something else dumb, this isn't the first time the east beat the west head to head recently.

You mean the team that absolutely throttled LSU and beat Alabama? That team? You understand they are not the same team from 10 years ago, right? We are playing the current team, and the past teams really don't matter.

Do y'all think before you post, or do you just sit down at the keyboard and start slapping at the keys willy nilly?

this serires wasn't a back to back. We were supposed to go there in 2023 and they were going to come here like 8 years later. By the time they made the return trip they'd already be a confernece opponent. Hence..made no sense for us to play the game.

Because the second non-conference game in each of the Georgia-Oklahoma and Tennessee-Oklahoma series is scheduled to take place after Oklahoma joins the SEC in 2025, the Conference is directing the postponement of the Georgia at Oklahoma game in 2023 and the Oklahoma at Tennessee game in 2024 until such time that those matchups become part of the Conference rotation of games in future years."

Part of my reason is the same as the reason our head coaches like big openers :

“ Makes for a great offseason, a lot of energy, kids tend to work harder, so I’m in complete support of that.”

that wasn't gonna be the opener just FWIW, it was game 2 IIRC.

Personally, I love the sweet spot of a "name" team but one taht isn't all that great. Viriginia in 2020 (canceled due to covid) is a perfet exqample. Someone like them or NC State or somethign like that would be perfectly fine for me, I'm not necessarily advocating for ALL cupcakes. But in this case we had to cancel and there's only so many options you'll have with less than a year's notice to get someone to come to your place for no return trip.
