One would argue they care more about the customer in the long run - they negotiate better so your price is lower and their product is more cutting edge with a greater investment in R/D.
Since I can't Uverse - I'm holding DirecTV regardless of the SEC Network. I bet you will be able to watch the games pay per view and I really don't care about all the "news garbage" it will bring. It will probably be a Nick Saban infomercial 80% of the time.

It's a regional network that ESPN is trying to make companies pay for like it is a national network. People on the west coast for the most part couldn't give two shits about Paul Finebaum.

In other words how much is the SEC wanting to charge cable providers because that cost is at some point being passed along to the consumer
$1.30 in the footprint. $0.25 outside it.

I bet not. Get ready for a season full of pissed off fans to provide leverage for negotiations.

Right. The games will not be available ppv. Your best bet will be to find a sports bar or a friend that has Uverse or Dish.

People are just expecting everything to fall in place for the season and it won't. There will be many upset fans and we will be lucky to live through it.

I have Comcast and I am not optimistic. Comcast is already giving charter and the new "SpinCo" JV a large number of subscribers to satisfy the FCC so I doubt they will care about people threatening to leave. They may welcome it.
Which brings up another potentially huge issue. Most of the major markets in Alabama are set to go under management of the new SpinCo which will be owned 1/3 by Charter and 2/3 by Comcast/Time Warner. I'm sure each company will do the negotiating for themselves and this spin-off will be an afterthought.
I think I'm going to have to find a friend or a bar that will carry SEC Network.

Give Dish a look. Had DTV switched to Dish.
Would not go back.
