So if Jarvis Jones did the exact same thing to McCaron you would be cool with it?
After he throws a pick? Hell yes.

Our QBs are coached better than to try and go make a tackle. AJ throws a pick, he gets his happy arse off the field.

That is launching if I have ever seen it. If that was a tackle he would be suspended for sure. To me it looks like targeting and unnecessary roughness.

Yes

In order for it to be launching he has to leave the ground. He never did. In order for it to be targeting he needs to go out of his way to hit him. Murray happened to be the closest defender to him.

Because he made a point to find him when the int happened. Murray is joging in the general direction and gets blindsided in the helmet by Dial who is throwing his helmet into Murray's helmet in an attempt to knock his arse out.

Thats a good point. I have never seen an offensive player get called for a blow to the head. Either way, flag no flag, wouldnt have changed anything
Gump logic once again. Wouldn't have changed anything cause we have won anyway. I'm on your side now. Penalties have no effect on the outcome of a game.

Dial's feet never even left the ground....also does not matter, as Murray was a defender.

Okay...but it was not a tackle. It was a block.

To me it looks like the QB should have done what he has been taught since porbably his first year of football...keep your head on a swivel(especially in that situation). Our guy was blocking a defender who was moving towards our running ball carrier.

Murray ran towards the ball. It doesnt matter if Dial tried to block him the whole play or not.

Bama still would have gotten the ball. So, it wouldnt have changed anything.

No he was barley more than walking. Murray wouldn't have even been a factor in the play anyway.

Inconsequential. He moved towards the ball. HAd he not wanted to be treated like a tackler he should have done the smart thing and gotten his arse of the field.

Well since he was blocked 5 yards from when the tackle happened, Id say that ya he could have been had HCD broken the tackle.

Your depth perception is off. That was at least 10-15 yards from where the tackle happened with 7 Bama players between Murray and the ball. Take off the Crimson glasses.

Everyone knows that QB's are worth more than everyone else, they are always defenseless. You just can't tee off on a QB. Dial is an idiot for trying to take a cheap shot and should be suspended for it.
You think if Ray Lewis did what Dial did to Tom Brady he would play the next game?
This is 100% WRONG.
In the NFL, this is true. But in college football, the QB is not "always defenseless". He is only ruled "defenseless" when in the act of throwing. This is where the difference between the NFL and college lies.

Mike Slive and the league office have concluded that this matter is best resolved by having a stern talking to with the young man in question, without any other penalties.
Accordingly, Slive has asked Murray to be in his office tomorrow at 9:00 am prompt for a lecture.

Neither do interceptions, fumbles, etc. No outcome.

Damn u dumb. Murray is in front of the play. I.E., he can affect it. If Clinton-Dix slips 1 tackle, the next man in line to tackle him is Murray.

Murray gets blocked at the 45, and the tackle is made at the 48. 5-10-15 yards away from the ball it makes no difference. Murray was headed towards the ball and is a tackler.

- Alabama defensive lineman Quinton Dial should have been penalized in the SEC Championship Game for his hit on Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, SEC coordinator of officials Steve Shaw said today
quote:
"By rule, you can't hit a defenseless player above the shoulders," Shaw said. "What the determination needs to be is was this a defenseless player and was contact initiated above the shoulders? When we go through video review of it, that's what we'll have to determine. And then you as you break it down, did he lead with the head or lead with the shoulder? From game action, it was a personal foul regardless of how we break it down frame by frame.
The SEC coordinator of officials Steve Shaw disagrees with you Gumps. But what would he know?
GUMPS, Don't let the facts distract you!
