Why don't schools set up Spring Game scrimmages with other teams?

I know I for one would be a hell of a lot more interested and would even pay $10-15 if I were in BR to see us scrimmage against like Southern Miss or something. Starters play 2-3 series then the young guys come in. I think that would be so much better than what we have now.

Because players would have a much better chance of getting hurt in a game that has absolutely no meaning.

So much fail here. If you think about it for 6 seconds, you should think of a few reasons why this would be turrible.

Teams like Alabama, Florida, LSU, etc... would benefit more from playing against their own offenses and defenses. Why set up a cupcake game when you could play against yourself? You're in the SEC, you've proven you're good year after year, and you wouldn't have to even set up anything out of the ordinary.

Just my opinion.

Cause we don't want to hear from LSU fans for months about who Bama scheduled to play.

I'd love to have it that way. Only play the D1-aa teams. Play them in a Spring Game and do away with scheduling D1-aa teams in the regular season.

You can get injured playing against your team mates. It happens every year in the Spring. Injuries would happen either way.

Why would any school set up a scrimmage against another school?

You don't play as physical when playing against your own team.

yeah the idea that they are more likely to get hurt because they'd be playing harder is totally false. It's actually the exact opposite.
