What's the purpose of having two anyway? I mean pick one already.

More agreement here. War Eagle >>>> Aubie the Tiger.
The pregame flight of the War Eagle is about the most dramatic opening of any football game anywhere, as good or better than Chief Oscala or whatever his name planting the spear midfield in FSU games.

There are no Eagles I know of in NCAA FBS, but how many Tigers? Four, Five? Let's see...LSU, Auburn, Missouri, Clemson,...and there's Memphis. Anyone else?

BC is the eagles...

I actually wouldn't be opposed to being just the war eagles. I think its cool and unique.

And just a fwiw for whoever commented, Aubie is supposed to look like a "kiddie cartoon tiger" - he is based on the cartoons from the front of programs/tickets back in the day (~50s-70's).

I think it would make them more unique. They would distance them selves from LSU, (and other Tigers). They would have a better logo than the disgursting Double tiger eye thing.. Plus, i just think it sounds awesome

I guess Tenn. needs to get rid of smoky or the volunteer? Bama needs to pick between the elephant and being a period? War Eagle is a battle cry, get over it.

Living in Auburn, I have beeen to several games and agree that the eagles flight is very awesome, but I still love to go to Baton Rouge and see Mike in his Habitat. The newest Mike is one of the most beautiful animals I have ever seen.

Ok, then it is agreed. Next years loser of the LSU Auburn game changes their mascot. LSU will become the Tiger Droppings and Auburn will become the Cheatin' Bastards. Damn Auburn is already known as that. So they become the Cheatin Bastards formerly of the SEC.

the eagle is where the battle cry comes from (according to legend, wikipedia it). Having the eagle actually fly isn't that old of a tradition. I think it started like in 2001 or so. Just because you have the animal and it is apart of your traditions, doesn't mean it has to be your official mascot or whatever.

But do you not like the idea? The chant/battle cry would make more sense.

Or we go back to being the Plainsmen, but keep Aubie and flying the eagle. Just to make it more complicated.

That battle cry is so popular that Jim Rome uses it.

Why not make your mascot an amalgam - the new one would be winged dudes that have tiger stripes and tails. You might have to staple some stuff on the eagle to make him look like a little man but it would be pretty sweet you know it would

Trying to teach my 8 year old daughter all the SEC schools, their mascots, their histories. She gets confused about why the Alabama Elephants are called the Crimson Tide, why there are two Tiger teams and two Bulldog teams, why Auburn has a Tiger mascot but flies an eagle, what does an ol' hounddog have to do with Tennessee (I explained that this year it's fitting, that's how they're playing), and what it means when USC shouts "Go, Cocks" (I avoid that one). Now I have to explain that a Teddy Bear in a blazer is the Rebel's mascot. But her favorite is the Gator chomp - she relates well to that juvenile cheer.

Nobody said it did, all we are saying that to have the Eagle as a team mascot would be unique in a way and beautiful to boot. You already have the Bird that flies a Hawk I believe or Falcon and to have it as your mascot would be a great idea that is all we are saying.

The High School where my kids go to school have the Eagle as their mascot and they are looking into having a real Bird to represent the Eagle for them also. They are looking at a Falcon because there are several in the Baton Rouge area that have them and so they have been told that it would not be a problem for them to use one for their games. I can not waite until they can start doing it myself.

Also I like yalls old Logo with the Capitol A and the Eagle flying through it I think that is a great Logo and would make for a great center of the field logo also.

Wartigeaglesmen sounds better.

And that gives Clemson sole rights to the Tiger mascot for agricultural colleges in the middle of nowhere.

Consumed by orange.

And anybody who is anybody, in southern football, knows better than to trust those g*dd*mn sneaky sons of b*tches at Clemson.
