re: Why does the SEC Rant desperately want LSU fans to be upset LSU is good at non-rev sports?

What makes you think LSU Tigers football fans are fair-weather fans?
The way Tiger Stadium empties out when LSU is losing.
When did Alabama football notice near-empty Tiger Stadium in dominant LSU road win?
It is normal for some fans to leave towards the end of the 4th quarter. It is not normal to see a stadium start clearing out at the start of the 3rd quarter.
As a fanbase, look how they have completely abandoned LSU men’s basketball since the Pear was fired.
As a fanbase, look how they suddenly embraced women’s basketball since Mulkey arrived.
It is natural to attract more fans when teams are good and lose some when teams are bad. But most LSU fans approach it like they do drinking - to extremes.

I respectfully disagree with your post because I was in attendance and left because of being disgusted with Kelly and what I was seeing on the field, not because I’m a fair-weather fan. Let me ask you this: Have you ever left a game early because you didn’t like what you were seeing on the field? Have you ever been so frustrated that you criticized the coaches? If you can answer yes to either of those questions, then maybe it’s time to put the stones down and walk away — because none of us is without fault.

I have a new piece of evidence to introduce to the court.
I am very, very sorry
We are all very, very sorry.

That is the definition of being a fairweather fan.

I think the majority of LSU fans would like to be good in MBB, what an odd thing to say
That would be correct. But a ton would pick baseball over it. It’d just is what it is. It’d be terrific to be great at everything though.

I completely agree and I’m in the same boat as you! Some of my earliest memories were of my dad and I in the Astrodome in the mid to late 80’s. Spend the day Friday at Astroworld, catch the night game. Spend Saturday at Waterworld, then catch the night game. Day game on Sunday and drive back to N.O. after the game.

Fair Weather Fan
Listen to pronunciation
Share definition
A fan of a sports team who only shows support when the team is doing well. During hard times they usually bandwagon other teams. They basically have no real loyalty to the team, but still manage to get better seats than you at the game. Strangely they mysteriously vanish at the first sign of trouble.

This is a strange thing to say about a basketball program that is traditionally decent with some storied personalities
We care about basketball, we just hate it right now because of the state of our program.

You all need to stop judging and stereotyping a fanbase because of a select few.
LSU's fanbase should practice saying this into a mirror.
