Don't like purple? Have a history with the whites?

So you can wipe your arse with them after you are done taking a shite in their stadium?

Good guys wear white at home.
Tradition, actually. Just like the 5 yard markers, "H" goalpost, playing a t night, leaving in 3rd quarter, etc.

White is associated with virginity
The half full tiger stadium is full of virgins
Am I doing this right

They would but you don't want to break out the once in a season or less uniforms for a loss to Troy. The gold and purple should be reserved to games against ULL, ULM, or... for the extra mojo... Tulane.
Its like Notre Dame bringing out the green uniforms. Only fewer people care.

They save purple jerseys for their toughest opponents...like Troy.

Back before TV ruled the football world, each home team would decide which to wear, color or white. White was LSU's choice back them.
Then along comes black and white television and of course television money. The TV execs decided that home teams would always wear dark and visitors white so that the viewer would always know which team was home. Television money is hard to refuse so the NCAA went along with the request. For many years LSU wore dark (purple) at all home games and white on the road.
LSU fans preferred the white at home and Gerry DiNardo successfully convinced the NCAA to let LSU wear white at home. Knowing the NCAA's love for rules, it wasn't a blanket waiver. For LSU (or any one else presumably), to wear white, they would have to get permission from the visitors.

Used to be true. Rule got changed in the SEC somewhere around the time Vanderbilt refused LSU's request in 1996 because the Commodores had their panties in a wad over Gerry DiNardo's buyout. SEC changed it to give home team in SEC games the choice some time before the end of the '90s. I believe visitor's permission was still an NCAA rule circa 2004 when Oregon State refused and wore white for LSU's opener.
Nowadays, you don't need visitor's permission at all. Only took the NCAA more than 20 years to get back to common sense.
Of course, I like our purple jerseys better. They look better, and I don't like sharing any tradition with the Dallas Cowboys. I think you should wear dark jerseys at home in football. They were good enough for SEC champs at LSU in '86 and '88 (co-champs that year) and for the Sugar Bowl team of '84.

French folks have always waved white flags in surrender so it's a salute to their heritage, I suppose.

LSU has very cool uniforms. The home whites are unique to them and it's a cool tradition when playing home vs an SEC team.
But, I really like their purple jerseys. It has that Mardi Gras look and feel to them. I wish they'd wear them more.
But the home whites have become iconic.
