He doesn’t win many big games, but having Ole Miss ranked is quite a feat.
but is it worth the $9 million they’re paying him?
At least Ole Miss and Lane beat Fisher and Texas A&M. Fisher is getting paid more to lose to Kiffin and be ranked below Ole Miss.

Because he's the coach of Ole Miss and they can't get better.

What Lane did with our offense in 2014, and in particular what he did to utilize Blake Sims at QB, was one of the most amazing coaching efforts I've ever seen. But there is a difference between offensive coordinator and head coach.

And not named Briles
Briles would make Ole Miss a tough team to play. Might not go 10-2 every year, but they'd damn sure ruin some teams' seasons.

Can ole miss really do any better?
Kiffin would still be in demand at a power 5

Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin can occasionally tease greatness, only to be smacked back to reality by an SEC blueblood. He should know by now you never, ever give Nick Saban and Alabama a villain.

Lane Kiffin has been a college coach for 134 games. When’s the last one that left you saying, "Man, that’s an incredible win. I don’t know how he pulled that one off?"
Here’s the answer: At the end of the 2011 season, when Kiffin was coaching Southern California, he took a team in the middle of a postseason ban and won on the road at Oregon, which was ranked No. 4 and right in the national championship race.

What has he done to be considered a good HC? He’s a good OC but not sure why he gets credit for anything as a HC.

My point is ole miss winning 9-10 games isn’t some fricking miracle.
Kiffin is massively overrated.
He’s been the HC at 5 places and his average tenure is 2.5 years.
Raiders: fired after the 4th game in season 2. Al Davis called him a fraud.
Tennessee: Left after one 7-6 season (Ole Miss beat him 42-17 that season with Houston fricking Nutt)
USC: fired after the 5th game in season 4. The admin hated him so much they left him on the tarmac in Tempe.
He had TWO Top25 wins in 4 seasons #18 Arizona and #5 Oregon
This was a good post with facts and accurate stats [which Kiffin says he lives by today (I don't believe him)]. It's a shame others will ignore it.
He is overpaid and underperforms. Lane seems to think if he's in the press, he's earning his salary. There was a brief period - I hoped he had been reformed. He has not.
Ole Miss deserves better.
