Reading post from South Carolina fans is comic gold. It is nice to see that their Women's Basketball and Men's Baseball teams have a more impressive trophy case than men's football.

Since you seem to not be a troll, I'll answer this for you.

This site was created for SEC fans, I have no issue and like it when we see other reasonable fan bases outside the SEC show up here. There is nothing wrong with an outside perspective and it can be nice especially when it comes to big OOC games. If you are a lurker than I'm sure you have seen us shite talk each other more than anything else. No one is safe here because we are all in the SEC. That logic doesn't really fly. Try going to a specific website of a SEC team and you won't see the same type of replies you find here.

Pretty sure Tide and Cats are meaningful programs. As the old fart on this board much of the "conference pride" was carried over from the old SIAA and SoCon when the southern schools were considered inferior by outside schools and media so they were forced to band together to survive the outside blows. As the ACC (and Texas and Texas A&M in the old SWC) share early DNA it has always surprised me that when the ACC broke from the SoCon they were less unified among themselves than when the SEC broke from the SoCon.

We were all brothers once (the split mainly based on the geography of the mountains) yet in latter generations the two groups have chosen such opposing paths. SEC has maintained the "unity amongst brothers" in the past several generations while the ACC has chosen "brother against brother" as their model. What an odd result based on a geographical issue (the mountains and train access) from such a common source.

Also interesting in that the man who formed the SIAA (and later the NCAA) and the first SEC president roughly a quarter century later were both rooted in Kentucky. Perhaps the unity of EKY mountain folks is the underlying building block the SEC was built on. Was the early ACC leadership more coastal and less hill folks in their roots?

Clemson only cares about one sport - and that's fine. Whenever South Carolina wins a national title, Clemson fans get to fall back on them "never caring" about that sport, so they get to maintain their facade of superiority. Brilliant strategy, really.

Congratulations - you put all your effort into football, and it's paid off.

Being in the SEC means you get paid. It's pretty simple to understand. LINK

I would wager the people that created this website are more than happy to have as many people from all over the country because of the advertising dollars..

The whole Conference Pride thing really rose in the BCS era when it seemed the polls were most kind to team in the SEC....

I think the Playoff era is taking some of the luster off the Conference love.

Also, as of right now, it appears Alabama has really separated itself from the rest of the SEC and I wonder how fans from that group feel about the other 13 teams really not pulling their weight like they did in the BCS era.

They did the same thing in 2010 and 2011 with baseball, but when they beat us this year, it becomes a big deal because they beat us in all 3 sports.

Nope, it has been around as long as I can remember and I am old enough to remember Georgia Tech and Tulane as SEC members. While I grew up hearing about Sewanee, I am not quite that old.

Actually your post is just the opposite to fact, in the early BCS the SEC schools were not getting the realistic love and Florida was not getting any love except for 1 lone reporter. That changed when Gators and LSU gang banged the Buckeyes and suddenly the Rose Bowl did not hold the alpha position in determining MNC's.

Sure but that really has nothing to do with what I said. If a person creates a forum designed for Canada hockey fans, he is going to be upset if some American hockey fans show up. It still doesn't mean that was the intention. Also note that there are other sub forums and not just this one.

I agree with all of this but you do understand why the polls were doing that, correct?

Sure but you can also say that Bama has pulled away from College football has a whole over the last 10 years. That being said, I don't disagree that over the last year or two the SEC as a whole has been down.

You guys acted as if us winning the CWS and the regional against y'all was meaningless. Then this year after y'all beat us in baseball it all of a sudden became a big deal. Your own athletic department sent out tweets proclaiming you'd beaten us in the 3 major sports.

Clemson has a WBB team?
Clemson has a equestrian team?

More like joking on the equestrian thing but WBB is clearly a Top 3 sport unless you are a SEC west fan or a B1G hockey fan. I really do not know if Taters have equestrian team especially as Aiken is in SC but I never remember hearing they were good. While Taters have WBB, have they ever been good?

Absolutely..and the they "did that" so well that when the put Alabama and LSU in the MNC Game that the backlash is what accelerated the end of the BCS era to make way for the Playoffs...

You are now seeing a variety of competition getting a fair shot on the field rather than hiding behind conference games and dodging tough non-conference games.

This is also impacting recruiting. Top rated players no longer fell that they have to play for an SEC school to have a chance the compete for a national title.

The BCS Era stacked the deck for the SEC and you guys had a helluva a good ride. Now team like Alabama are having to do it the old fashioned way and competed at the highest level.

I feel sorry for Alabama fans. It must be tough carrying to burden with no real support coming anytime soon.

If Bama fall the SEC falls....

You certainly can but I believe it was a legit discussion. I didn't really expect shots when I fired none.

Of course that is what I hoped for

Kind of stated all I wanted to above two posts ago. I have been the first to admit the SEC has been down but if someone doesn't recognized the difficulty of the SEC, especially SEC west, in that "BCS time frame", I don't really know what to say.
