Outside of Kentucky & Florida the SEC is pretty historically mediocre even if some of the schools can field some pretty remarkable NBA teams over the years
See LSU, Texas, etc.
Hopefully Florida makes some big noise this year in the tournament because the conference is definitely a 1 trick pony this year.

UK has always cared about basketball. This nonsense that we are washed up and dead in the water is people just hoping and praying for the impossible. This fan base will not rest.
Calipari's decline began at Covid. He rested on his laurels, he had several years of unacceptable results and we got rid of him thanks to Arkansas giving us an out. He seems to have become a little reinvigorated, and that is great for Arkansas, but he was done here and we all knew it.
So now we are on yr 2 of the post Cal era, and it's not going well by any measure. Pope is going to be given another year. If this garbage continues next year, he'll be gone, we'll have a new AD who knows in no uncertain terms he needs to land a grand slam.
Mitch threw $12 million at Hurley, and when he stayed at UConn, Mitch's plan was to interview Scott Drew, Mark Pope and Shaka Smart....he's the fricking problem and he'll be gone in a few months.
So enjoy one more year of this, because I don't foresee Pope landing the recruits we need to turn this thing around and justify a turnaround. When 2027 rolls around, you can expect a new hoss atop the throne in Lexington:
