Because some don't associate "southern heritage" with racism.

I might be able to buy that except I've seen and even been in direct contact with the retards who still display these flags.

They don't any more. The wave this stupid looking "M" flag. I'd rather the Rebel flag

The Ole Miss adminstration banned the stars and bars and the southern cross from the stadium. They also got rid of Col. Reb.

How do you live and breathe without choking on your own bull shite?

Though a devout Atheist, I would love to hear what that dude from Nazareth has to say about this kind of thing.

I'm just wondering how blacks in Mississippi, esp those who play for Ole Miss, feel about it being waved at games.

If they care then they are stupid or they are looking to be offended by something.

Most don't anymore (at the games), thankfully. They have been outlawed at sporting events for some time, although some necks still sneak them in.

I'm not even black. You can't see how that flag might make a black person feel uncomfortable?

Dude.

Tone it down a bit. At least retain some kind of dignity and pretend not to be a bigot.

the confederate flag is so horrible

The battle flag is the cross of St. Andrew with stars in it. The Stars and Bars is the flag of the Confederate Government at the start of the war. Ole Miss fans wave the battle flag in honor of their mascot, soldiers who fought and died in a war of independence. You've apparently let a bunch of modern-day, self-serving, power-hungry hate merchants redefine a noble historical symbol. I pity you.

Whether it does or doesn't has no bearing on whether or not it actually should. I guess we should ban all things that make some people feel uncomfortable, right?

Do you really wanna debate the history of the matter and whether the flag really is a representation of hatred anymore than, say, the American or British flags??

Recognized as a war of treason.

Perception is reality, friend. Original intentions are as long gone as the men who followed blindly to the grave.

A lovely display to all that you are more than likely a weak minded fool, considering you would deem someone a bigot soley based on a post that doesn't fall lock step with the idea of the confederate flag being so heinous as to be banned...

I care not what a fool such as yourself thinks regardless.

You should be and are able to fly it.

Nope, I don't want to debate it. Just look at the caliber of people who fly this flag. Are you really naive enough to believe that the typical moron displaying this flag isn't making a racial statement?

I would say the same thing except for the idiot I went to high school with who wore his "You wear your X and I'll wear mine" shirt to school.

BS. The people who think it is a symbol of racism are of the same mentality of those who see Malcolm X shirts and think the owner wants to kill whites.
The Civil War was NOT fought over slavery, that is Yankee BS. To me the flag represents Southerners having the dignity to not be oppressed by the North, which is EXACTLY why secession took place, thereby causing the war.

When the Civil War is over, you'll get the correct version of history.

It's a true statement.

The truth behind that statement is that the reality of the original intention of the symbol does not justify the intentions of the people who wave the flag. If they are ignorant to the true meaning, then is it really as vindicated as we're making it out to be?
