Mississippi State fans: Mullen doesn't go for the throat and packs it in too early.
Other fans: Mullen runs up the score.
We really gotta get our facts straight. Mullen has packed it in early quite a few games this season. In the Georgia game we scored 38 in one half and ended the game with 44 points.
Against Tennessee we put in our second string defense and let you guys score, then you guys went ahead and started to call timeouts even though you were down three possessions.
Florida's backup Quarterback has 15 pass attempts and 19 rushes.
Alabama's backup Quarterback has 18 pass attempts and 9 rush attempts.
You guys come up with some bizarre narratives.

No not really. If you actually take a look at it, you see that Bama feeds the ground game a hell of a lot more than Florida when the game starts getting out of reach.
In the 4th quarter, Bama has 141 snaps, 29 of which are passes (112 rush att). Bama passes once for every 5 plays in Q4. That 29 is also only 11% of Bama's passing atts. AND when up by 15+, Bama has 184 rush att to 114 pass att. So roughly 62% of the time, Bama is going to run the ball if they're up by two or more scores.
Florida on the other hand, has 142 Q4 snaps. 67 pass att, and 75 rush att. Florida passes the ball 47% of the time in Q4. That 67 Q4 attempts also accounts for 20% of their passing game (they pass almost double the rate that Bama does in Q4). Looking at when up by 2 or more scores, they have 146 snaps, 75 of which are rushes (52%).
It's pretty clear that Bama's plan is to blow the game open with explosive plays and then eat a ton of clock via the run game in the 2nd half. Mullen leans on the pass heavily at first, and then does rush more as the game goes on, however that results in much closer to a 50/50 split and is still passing almost twice as much as Bama late in the game.

But Bamas starting defense is still in with under 4 minutes to play leading by 40?????

Absolutely. To be fair, my bar is pretty low right now. If your coach realizes that points rather than things like having the most offensive yards are actually what wins games, I'm jelly.
