It wasn't clear at the time but from the vantage of 2018 it seems obvious that the man was already struggling with his sexual orientation. Try to show some compassion.

They don't want UAB to succeed in football. Alabama was coming off a 6-7 season at the time and also in the middle of a coaching search. They claimed it was because of "financial reasons" but Fisher's salary was to be covered by boosters.

I'm pretty sure the real reason was that they thought Saban would bring Fisher with him to Alabama as OC.

I want to say there was rumblings about Fisher and Miles not seeing eye to eye on how the offense should be ran. This was one more reason to make the lateral move of OC to FSU.
