A bammer telling somebody else that football is only a game and they shouldn't take it seriously is amusing

Two additional stop on Defense last year will put the in the Playoff conversation. Muschamp should be good for that.

AU forced a punt 19 percent of time last year against SEC teams. All things do not have to be equal for them to improve on those numbers.

That's pretty obvious. Maybe you should look back at one of the other 25 threads on this exact subject that have been started this offseason.

first of all, i'm a so-called expert and I don't pick them to win the west or the SEC.

next, pre season picks in the SEC west are laughable, irrelevant and not the slightest bit credible. only picking bama has any credibility at all and they have a first year qb.

It's baffling but awesome at the same time.

The expert's pick almost never wins the league.

On the other hand, other teams, such as Georgia, have figured out how to stop their offense.

Do you think we run the same offense every year? Gus Malzahn is known for changing the offense to fit the players. I realize you haven't really thought about it that much, but maybe you should before you start threads.

If Mushchamp can make Auburn's defense a top 30 D, they may win it.

Not likely with the type of offense they run.

How is that not likely? Auburn should be easily scoring 35+ a game.

I'm saying a top 30 defense isn't likely.

Gus isnt known for anything other than being the only coach in history credited by his fans as the only reason for a national title as an offensive coordinator. I realize you haven't really thought about it that much, but maybe you should before you make stupid statements.

Muschamp has had a Top 10 total defense and Top 15 in scoring defense every single year of his coordinator career. That, combined with the talent we have, especially up front, I don't see any reason to believe that he can't bring a top 30 Defense.

Arkansas fans' opinions about Gus Malzahn are nothing to take seriously.

Auburn's offense is based on running plays as quickly as possible. You'll either score quickly, or punt quickly. This forces your defense to spend more time on the field because the offense doesn't have long sustained clock-eating drives.

Your defense will likely be better, but your style of offense will prevent the defense from being elite.

I'm also curious if Muschamp has ever been a defensive coordinator on a team with a high octane offense.

They were right last year. It's the beginning of a streak.

I understand the rationale behind that, but Auburn average 29+ minute time of possession last year... and that was with Nick Marshall running the show. This year is much more likely to be slower paced and more methodical.

I think that's entirely dependent on the depth of the defense. Clemson didn't seem to have a problem with that.

Clemson ranked 34th in time of possession. Auburn was 62nd.

No matter what kind of offense Malzahn runs, it's always dependent on running plays as quickly as possible.
