Are you an idiot? Did I not say I had no problem moving the games to Fayetteville?

No, what I had a problem with was your high and mighty declaration that only true fans make the trip to Fayetteville. I'm in the fortunate position that I don't have to worry about spending the money to have season tickets and make every game.

But I know that not everyone is in my position, and I can understand that they'd be upset that their opportunities to see the Hogs play might be lessened or taken away completely. I'm not going to say they're not true fans because they simply can't afford it. And I'm certainly not going to talk down to them for it or question their passion for the program.

ETA: I read your edit, and I agree that people in LR/SEAR/SWAR who can afford trip to Fayetteville really shouldn't be bitching. But I think we as a fan base have to handle this issue with delicacy. The fact of the matter is that some good Hog fans are going to be hurt when the decision is made to pull out of WMS, and throwing around statements carelessly about the loyalty of fans doesn't help anyone.

I think you need to read my edit. The fans whose passion I was questioning was the South Arkansas folks who have the money and still don't want to go to Fayetteville just because it is less convenient.

But, but, but...I want ALL games at WMS so I only have to drive 1 mile to get to see the Hogs play!

Many years ago when I first moved to LR, I rented a house close by the stadium. It was really great at the time, living within walking distance to games at WMS and RW Field. Times have really changed since then, but I've always enjoyed all the Arkansas games, wherever they've been played.

The people you're talking about are rednecks and dickheads that tear up the golf course and litter everywhere.

Another point I haven't seen discussed, how many players live in Little Rock during the season? Zero, they live in Fayetteville. Why make it harder on the players just to appease the Natty Light swillers?

I'm from Sherwood. I'd be just fine if Arky never played another game in War Memorial. At the very least, quit playing LSU in Little Rock. Make them come to Fayetteville. 25,000 more screaming fans to deal with and a longer trip.

There are plenty of the poorer razorback fans from SEAR/SWAR that cant afford to make that trip to Fay.

I don't buy into that either. For years and years and years the delta, timber, and oil folks were the OT ballers in the state. The population, income, and transportation wasn't even close, now it is. The times have changed like it or not. Those poorer folks in SE & SW Arkansas live in Lowell, Springdale, and Centerton now or they're in DFW or Conway/Jacksonville/Bryant.

If they can afford tickets to the game, gas, and tailgate supplies they can afford the extra $40 to haul their tails to Fayetteville.

shoot If I lived in central Arkansas, I'd rent some of those Tunica buses and do chartered trips to Fayetteville complete with tailgating and grilling and extra TV's to set up outside of the bus. For a 6pm game meet up at 11am at WMS parking lot, watch the JP game on the way up, be in Fville by the time that game is over with 4 hours of tailgating before the game. During the game have the crew clean up and have the tailgate torn down and the bus ready to roll out 20 minutes after the game ends. Back in LR by 12:30am with a 3 hour nap, and the riders are sobered up and able to drive back home from LR or to their hotel if they choose to get one.

sweet, there's a 2 minute business plan.

wait, you live a mile from WMS? So since you're not taking me to the LSU game, can I at least park at your house and walk to WMS?

I lied...it's 1.8 miles!

And now I'm done...I swore I would never get into a GSD thread during the short time I posted on Hogville, and now y'all sucked me into one over here!

naw, those are folks that left LR when the schools started busing in kids all over the place. They cashed out their TCBY & Dillard's stock and white flighted their asses up HWY 67.

Alright...as a peace offering, any SECr poster has an open invitation to our WMS tailgate. It's not fancy, but we have good food and cold beer!

And we are neither rednecks or dickheads and we don't serve Natty Lite (Stonehog, cough, cough)...

I don't go to the LR games. It's too far to drive.

I love Fayetteville, but 1 game a year in Little Rock wouldn't hold back the program. People from all over the state should have the ability to see one hog football game a year without having to travel 3+ hours to the isolated corner of the state that is Fayetteville.

Arkansas is just as much Little Rock's "home team" as it is Fayetteville's due to tradition and support. War Memorial is a unique venue that has better tailgating, tends to have a better atmosphere, and tends to be a better home field advantage.

The program was built from the support of the whole state, it doesn't make sense to do anything to impair that.

Just curious why LR fans are so adamant about keeping all those games.

all the other reasons listed around here are offshoot of the main problem. it just sucks to have something and then have it taken away. nobody likes this. there's no real NEED anymore to have in LR, its just been that way and people feel entitled to things they have had in the past.

that being said, the LR game is still important, but should def be scaled back to one game a year. i dont see why having one SEC game in LR would be that big of a problem for NWA folks, especially if it's not a marquee game, which it shouldnt be.

I honestly wouldn't mind if the 1 SEC game they got was a marquee game. I don't want it to just be revolving the MS schools. I think it should be on a cycle.

y1 - Auburn
y2 - Ole Miss
y3 - Texas A&M
y4 - Missouri
y5 - Alabama
y6 - Miss. St.
y7 - LSU
y8 - SEC East revolving team

y9 - repeat cycle

or however it works out so that it's a diff. team and if the LR happens to be a top 5 team so be it. It's not exactly fair that we have all the marquee games in Fville. Just come up with a system that is a good compromise.

it might not be fair, but even as someone who lives on markham, i would prefer the big games be in the big stadium. looks better on TV and im sure the players would rather not travel.

i remember WMS having all kinds of clock problems during the lsu game in '10, and it all just felt very janky to me. there were times WMS embarrassed me during the telecast. i dont know, id rather not feel that way during the few huge games that come in a season.
