I understand loyalty to your conference, but I don't know a single Longhorn fan pulling for an OU win.

Because they are a sister team from the SEC. The only SEC school that I have a difficult time pulling for has the same colors as the land thieves.

ETA - Sooner fans were beyond the pale at the 2003 NCG and I hate them all with a passion...

The land thieves are very much like the pachyderms. The most unbearable fans that feel like it is owed to them.

Looks a bit like you did when Bama beat LSU this year... without the drunken stupor and screaming of course.

It's an us against them mentality. This was seen during the Civil War too (or, if you prefer, War of Northern Aggression). States that weren't dependant on the slave economy threw their hats in with those that were.
Please dear god, get this shite out of here. The Civil War was over 150 years ago, and has nothing to do with SEC Football.

Arkansas, Tennessee, etc... had nothing to gain in fighting for the South and Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Bama fans, etc... have nothing to gain by supporting UF.
The mentality is there. Football is a part of the south and Southern Pride feeds the SEC.

Alabama fans have some sort of love for OU, so they'll be pulling for OU. Yet another reason so many SEC fans were pulling against one SEC team in the bowls, Alabama.
OU and Texas get no love from me... ever, regardless of opponent. Especially the pricks that make up the OU fanbase.

A lot of them aren't pulling for them. But conference pride is a big one.

It's the only valid reason. but when the conference team is a recruiting rival (Bama) I dont see the benefit.
I cheer for SEC in bowl games period. I don't worry about what a high school kid thinks. If he wants to go to LSU because they beat the Georgia Tech powerhouse, then feel free. Even losing to Utah, I'm still confident enough in our recruiting to cheer for all SEC teams without fear of losing a wishy washy 18 year old.

So GA Tech is a "powerhouse"....But I guess Utah is great?..Thats why there are about 5 one loss teams in front of them in the BCS standings....
I pull for almost all of the SEC teams.

The SEC lovefest is out of control during bowl season.
"He knows. He's a smart guy. He knows what it takes to win in football ... He's been in the Southeastern Conference, and I think we've got the best conference in America. He's been in the Pac 12 out there, or the Big 12, or whatever they call it out there with Oklahoma and Texas. He knows what they're doing out there, so he's got all the knowledge and all the exposure that he needs. I'm just glad he brought it to Auburn. - Pat Dye

I hate the gators more than anything in this world. bar none. I was a sooners fan before i came to ole miss, as well. I'm all over some OU action. But it wouldn't disappoint me, however, if they won, for the real victory came in the swamp on September 23, 2008.
