We made the playoffs with Blake Sims at QB. We don't need an All-American under center. But we might have one, just the same.

You also dont play defense like that or run that style of offense anymore.

Correct. LSU won't be as good and AU's defense won't be as good. UGA's offense will still be stuck in the mud.

Alabama's defense will be better this year, the front 7 especially.

Alabama won the national championship with Jake Coker and a run-heavy offense. Jones is a better passer than Coker.

LSU's offense lost a ton including their offensive genius.
AU loses a lot up front.

Yes, Alabama returns a lot of experience.

If they can stay healthy.

Cool and Tua was better than both of them yet he only won a national championship because Jalen brought them there.

Isn't that the case for all teams?
Yes, injuries affect everyone. Thought that was understood.

What does that have to do with anything.
Although people within the program said Tua had passed Jalen and probably should have started in 2017. Saban stayed with experience.

About as much as Blake Sims or Jake Coker have to do with anything.

Don't look at any preseason magazines, you'll be disappointed if you have issues with people saying LSU lost a lot.
It's just a fact.

No doubt we lost a ton of players.

The "offensive genius" is the funniest part to me.

Not sure. Nearly half of Mac Jones’ completions were at or behind the LOS last year.

They won’t be able to hide his deficiencies early in the season vs UGA. B. Young may need to come in and bail him out.

Which is why a Jake Coker-type offense could win at Alabama.

Tua and Jalen don't factor in the discussion.

Mac Jones has a few deficiencies at QB after 4 games as a starter.

As you so eloquently noted he lacks touch and fails to make good decisions when heavily pressured. Shudda just dumped that bullet to Harris at the goal line at his feet.

Mac Jones will give up lotsa picks this year in key games. He holds onto a ball well enough but has to learn the throwaway when heavily blitzed or sacked.

Touch passes need serious work. New WRs coming up and loss of Shavers gives Jones two key WRs returning. Bama will rely heavily on the run game in 2020 as they have few other choices. A 2019 48% passing game (with Tua throwing most of those) will likely fall to around 40% passing with Jones at QB

Alabama has to play
USC
GEORIGA
@TENNESSEE
@LSU
@OLE MISS (people will laugh but I think this will be a tough game for bama)
TEXAS A&M
AUBURN Not exactly an easy schedule with a question mark at QB

Good points!
GA game will tell the World about Mac Jones and the 2020 Tide

Without him you don't win the national championship in 2019 and would be more like your offense in 2018.

Mac also threw for 4 TDs and had a higher QBR than Burrow vs the same opponent in spite of the 2 pick sixes. It was only his 3rd start and he was thrown into Jordan Hare.

If he goes and throws pick sixes in big games, we aren't going to win. We didn't win when Tua did it, and we aren't going to win if he does it.

But in the few games he did played he showed he was more than capable of making the plays needed and then some. Really like his poise and presence in the pocket and the ability to stand there and throw it while taking the hit instead of trying to run out of the pocket at the first sign of trouble.

So you're saying a low level Saints assistant who'd never coached on the offensive side of the ball came in and built the greatest college football offense ever all by himself in one offseason?

Nah.

Saban changed for a reason.

Luckily for you, he's smarter than the majority of your fanbase.

Bryce Young is special.

Everyone knew Tua was special. We all know Bryce is. If I could pick one ecruit from last cycle that I could have at Oregon, it would be him.
