Why are A&M fans so confident about their game vs. Clemson?

Lots of confidence coming from Aggy fans.

The main reason seems to be "we almost beat them last year"

But, that claim ignores 2 key facts:

1. Trevor Lawrence hardly played

2. It was at home

Links to this supposed confidence? If anything we are 51% optimistic.

All I really know though is this ... if A&M beats Clemson ...

A&M staaaaaacked
SEC fuuuuuuucked

Cautious optimism would be more correct.

And Lawrence played plenty - Clemson would have lost if they kept playing him though. He had the deer in the headlights look in his eyes. Obviously, he is better now

Link to this alleged confidence?

We think we have a chance. We're not expecting a win, though. It's false to say otherwise.

Why would we NOT expect to compete? We're supposed to ink this game as a L?

1. Trevor Lawrence is not playing defense
2. Since when has that matter since expansion?

Here are the stats:

Clemson @ A&M

And, that Clemson defense is likely to take a step back.

Again, why would we not expect to compete? Because Bama didn't?

I agree. Even if we were to beat Clemson, we could easily still finish the year with 3 losses.

Same reason some of our fans are confident with Alabama.
You know you’re the underdog, and probably won’t win, but you fight until the end. Nothing wrong with fans rooting for their team.

What's wrong with having confidence in that game? They have talent and played them close last season. Confidence is fine, arrogance isn't. I honestly haven't seen much of the former and zero of the latter.

Why should any team be confident in their opening game or any game? Maybe because they love their team?? I'm no a1m fan... but I like their confidence, even if it really isn't going to matter.

What gives me confidence that we can compete is that Clemson had a +2 turnover margin in 2018, and Mond had 430 passing on a defense that may not be as strong as the 2018 version.

That does not mean that we will win, but we should expect a competitive game.

Unless we are supposed to just look at the Bama score and simply forfeit because there appears to be no point in playing the game.

It's fake confidence. That's what they're all about. How have you not figured that out yet?

And Lawrence played plenty

He had 9 attempts in that game.

He averaged 29 attempts in the 13 games following.

And on his 9 vs A&N he had 100 yards and a TD.

It’s amazing how much time you two saps spend on this website considering you have literally no connection to the SEC.
