You are Texas. Not the South. No matter how much Texans try to be Southern, they will never be Southern to us here in the Deep South. You will always be Texans. Get over it. It doesn't mean ya'll suck or anything.

The state of Texas is not the deep south, but neither imo is la, fl, mo, or half of tn

If we are talking in generalities I agree, and I obviously prefer to be a Texan

Sorry, BluegrassBelle, but your State touches Ohio.

I agree with some of this, but I am going to just let it go so the Rant doesn't explode.

Hey I can't help who we border.

I can promise you though, come here and then cross the border into Indiana or Ohio and you'll see the difference.

I know. I have been to Kentucky. It really is night and day. I will say this about Kentucky, though, they have some beautiful women.

Don't try to kiss arse now.
ETA: We're still Southern. But we have our fair share of transplants from Midwestern states mixed in. I liken in a bit to Florida. They're still Southern to me but a subdivision of the Deep South because of their transplants. Most Florida people I know who grew up there are Southern.

Got a daughter who lives in Covington across the river from Cincy. It's amazing the cultural difference's between the people in Covington & the people who live in Cincy proper...

The southern half of Missouri is like Tennessee, Kentucky, and parts of Mississippi and Arkansas. My dad considered the term yankee to be an insult. The northern-most parts of the state have more of a midwestern feel, the parts up by Iowa and Nebraska. That's not the majority of the state though, either by land or by population.

Agreed.
The term "Deep South" is defined in a variety of ways:
Most definitions include the states of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina.[4][5]
The seven states that seceded from the United States before the firing on Fort Sumter and the start of the American Civil War, and originally formed the Confederate States of America. In order of secession they are: South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. Due to the migration patterns of the last half-century, some areas of Florida and Texas are often no longer included under the term.

No doubt. It's the same way between Louisville and New Albany, Indiana. Very, very different mentality.

Yes, a portion of the city whose motto is, "Put your shirt on Covington." screams Southern. Well, they have the white trash part right.

Damn proud of that fact, too. I know there are some among us that want to try and blend in to the Deep South mentality, but I say let y'all be y'all, and we'll be Texans

And the rookie hazing is all in good fun, OP. I've been enjoying the banter.
