Man, you know Auburn's history better than most Bama fans know yalls current team. I'm impressed.
JK, that's typical.
There's two kinds of Bama fans. Ones who don't know shite Bama except Saban, that years star player, and they hate Auburn. And then ones who follow Auburn closer than they do Bama, including university politics

Appreciate SEC football history but part of the problem might be that Auburn history is a pretty short read like Cat in the Hat and Bama's is like reading War and Peace.
Not much of a challenge to learn Auburn's.

Must've skipped the book on basketball.

Not that the bouncey ball matters but come on. Really? Must've missed all those banners hanging in the Auburn Arena and Beard Eaves.
Pearson and Barkley were good. Not great. By any measure. Yes both had good (not great) pro careers but that's not what we are discussing.

Yeah. Ok.
Without looking it up, even know who Lorino is?
Now look him up.
Still think Barkley and his Mediocre college career outstrips him?

I think it's sad Auburn fans put Newton in such high regard.
I know he delivered their first national title in forever, but the dude was/is a scumbag and was at Auburn totally by accident. He was on the team for what, less than 1 calendar year?
People like Bo and Barkely went to Auburn because they actually loved it and had real college careers there.

Yes, Barkley with his "mediocre" college career and "good, but not great" pro career belongs on there before Lorino.

Notoriety and fame -/= Contribution.
Tommy Lorino, a prep phenom in high school at Woodlawn first and later at Bessemer High School, Lorino was starting halfback at Auburn on the 1956 team, the 1957 national championship team and the undefeated 1958 team. He led nation with an 8.44-yard rushing average in 1956, setting an all-time SEC record. He led the team in rushing all three years he played. Lorino was conference rushing leader in 1956 and was named SEC Sophomore of the Year. The multi-talented halfback also punted all three years, averaging 41 yards a punt in 1957. He also was an outstanding defensive player, playing both offense and defense for two straight undefeated teams in '57 and '58.. Lorino spent one year in the Canadian Football League before entering business. Also outstanding baseball player, he was right fielder for Auburn's 1958 SEC championship baseball team. He has been one of the premier collegiate football officials for 30 years, serving as an SEC official and calling numerous major bowl games. He has officiated two national championship games.
We aren't debating pro careers. In college, Barkley doesn't come close. Just my opinion. You're entitled to yours.

legit answer is obvious... Heisman, Dye, Bo & Cam
Posted on 12/11/15 at 10:35 pm to AUTiger45
Heisman doesn't belong there. He coached at AU for about three or four seasons, about as long as he coached at Clemson and several other schools. He also coached at Ga. Tech for about 15 years.

Charles Barkley didn't have a great pro career?League MVP,11 time all-star and voted top 50 player of all time.

Stick with CFB players from the 50's...its what you know best.

Never won a championship.
But I take it that you don't require that for "greatness". Not surprised.
